Hi. I am a 64 year old My ultimate goal is to lose from 163 to at least 130 and maybe a bit lower (I am 1.5 inches shorter than I was in high school). My highest weight was 227,

Starting weight 163
5% of starting weight 8.15
Ending weight will be 154.8

Exercise Plan: 120 min a day
Taking it easier until I have my physical at the the end of this month. Going to reduce the reps of my weight training down to 8 again(if I am able to weight lift at this time) because of the time I was unable to work out due to pneumonia and lower the intensity of my dancing and walking.

Eating many more carbs than I have allowed myself in the last 7 years and my blood sugar is still good, with the total weight I have lost and my exercise regimen. May modify my eating plan -- I started as total vegan in the Eat To Live Program but eat some meat now. I was borderline anemic when I was a child and at times have had to supplement as an adult (under the care of a physician of course) and am tracking my iron now. Without oysters/livers I never get near the iron I should have. **If I have enough beans, lentils, and meat, I can get the iron without all of the cholesterol in the liver and oysters. Had a free cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI check at Sam's Club Saturday 1-13-18 and my cholesterol was 233 (after a couple of days of livers) but my good cholesterol was 63 which is very good and my ratio of bad to good is only 3.7 .2 points over desirable range of 3.5 or less. Blood Pressure 117/72 body fat percentage 36.6 which is just .7 over normal of 35.9 for my age.I' m very pleased with these figures. My non-fasting blood sugar was 94 (they required that it be 9 hours since I ate for it to be fasting and it had only been about 4.That will change shortly, though. Things will get even better soon -- I did my upper body weight training yesterday (1-14-2018) and only had to cut back the reps on a couple of my exercises. I did the chin ups and pull ups at same wt and reps (47 lbs on total gym for 10 reps 3 sets) that I did before I got sick. Doing the lower body workout today 1-15-2018. Am very pleased with these figures.

My Goals:
To lose at least 5% of my total body weight during the 5% Winter Challenge, and ultimately to be at a healthy weight (probably between 120 and 130 based on my height but more depends on my waist circumference). I am an apple (for lack of a better description because it is not all in my middle, but all ABOVE the waist!). A better goal is my old 28" waist from a health standpoint.

Basically Eat to Live (don't Live to Eat) - Joel Fuhrman.
I started out as a total vegan but am eating some animal products now, just not as much as before and not at every meal. It is very hard for me to weight train with no animal products. I rarely eat milk products, though. I get my calcium through almond milk which has 150% the amount of calcium as the same amount of cow's milk and the greens and broccoli are full of calcium.

Married 44 years in 2018 to a wonderful man. Two grown children, 6 grands and a great-grand. Love to cook. Also sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch and crafts. Read. Play piano, saxophone, and accordion. Had a very hard time when the kids left the nest. Took 13 years for me to get over it. Gained this weight when I got something called Lichen Planus (they didn'tt know at that time what caused it or how to treat it).Now I know that it was caused by an antibiotic called Cipro that I took for a bout of bronchitis and finished just weeks before the Lichen Planus started breaking out. A lot of people have it in their mouths, and a few break out in a rash. I was one of the "lucky" ones and had it for 16 years. It is lavender and itches and spreads just like poison ivy. I personally believed it was due to the fact that I had just taken a round of powerful antibiotics and my immune system aka gut bacteria was "wiped out." The doctors were no help at all, but after research and nurturing my flora


Other Information:
My true highest beginning weight was 227 in Feb of 2011. Somewhere I think there is a picture of me then. If I can find it, it will be my Before Picture. I did have a picture of myself eating an ice cream cone on vacation at about 215 lbs and my buttons on my blouse were about to pop. I hid that one from myself because it embarrassed me to look at it, even in private. My fasting blood sugar was 116 at my highest weight. Lost 20 pounds in 4 months by just watching myself and my portions but my blood sugar didn't change. Went on Atkins and in 3 days my fasting blood sugar was 98. I stayed on it from June 1 2011 until mid October lost 37 more for a total of 57 pounds lost but then ate a piece of birthday cake (though I didn't crave a thing) and fell way off the wagon.. Got off Atkins and gained 20 back. I have been rocking back and forth with those 20 or 30 pounds for years and now it has to stop! UPDATE! IT DID STOP! I have lost 42 pounds since Jan 1 of 2017!
