Hi. I am a 64 year old My ultimate goal from this point is to lose from 164 to at least 130 and maybe a bit lower (I am 1.5 inches shorter than I was in high school). My highest weight was 227. so I have lost a total of 63 pounds so far. My second goal (which is more important to me for health) is to lower my A1C to normal range which is below 5.7 See UPDATE in Jan 2018 my AIC is 5.2 which is perfectly normal.

Starting weight 168.8
5% of starting weight to lose 8.4 lbs
Ending weight will be 160.4

WOO HOO had my physical. A1C is 5.2 no need for statins either. Blood Pressure 117/68. Everything is marvelous! I can't say enough about how much a regular exercise program and healthy eating improves our numbers! Thanks SparkPeople for keeping me accountable! PRAISE GOD for HIS BLESSINGS

My Goals:
In the Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge is to lose at least 5% of my total body weight , and ultimately to be at a healthy weight (probably between 120 and 130 based on my height but more depends on my waist circumference). I plan to lose to 140 by June 24 2018. I am an apple (for lack of a better description because it is not all in my middle, but all ABOVE the waist!). A better goal is my old 28" waist from a health standpoint.

My Program:
Eating Plan: To at least start out eating within the calorie guidelines dictated by the number of calories I burn per day. If I find that I am not losing weight, I will adjust accordingly. Eating very few processed foods, 3 or 4 servings of fruit, and all of the non-starchy veggies I can hold along with some super-nutritious starchy ones. My goal is super-nutrition and it is a work in progress.

My Exercise Plan : Weight training 6 days a week alternating upper body and lower body with one day off to
allow those muscles to rest. I will walk, dance, and stretch every day and on the day off from weight training I will only do the walk, stretch, and dance. When I am away from my total gym, I will add 81 calories of workout per day to compensate for the difference in calorie burn from the weight training days and the non-weight training day to keep my calorie range intact.

Personal Information:
Married 44 years in 2018 to a wonderful man. We are Christians and my faith is an important part of my life. I would not be the person I am today without Jesus and I am eternally grateful to have been born into a Christian family in a country in which I am free to worship, have my Bible, and practice my faith. I am blessed to live in a country in which our laws are based on the Word of God! We have two grown children, 6 grands and a great-grand. Love to cook. Also sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch and crafts. Read. Play piano, saxophone, and accordion. Write music, prose, and poetry. Had a very hard time when the kids left the nest. Took 13 years for me to get over it. Gained this weight when I got something called Lichen Planus (they didn't know at that time what caused it or how to treat it ) .Now I know that it was caused by an antibiotic called Cipro that I took for a bout of bronchitis and finished just weeks before the Lichen Planus started breaking out. Other Information:
My true highest beginning weight was 227 in Feb of 2011. Somewhere I think there is a picture of me then. If I can find it, it will be my Before Picture. I did have a picture of myself eating an ice cream cone on vacation at about 215 lbs and my buttons on my blouse were about to pop. I hid that one from myself because it embarrassed me to look at it, even in private. My fasting blood sugar was 116 at my highest weight. Lost 20 pounds in 4 months by just watching myself and my portions but my blood sugar didn't change. Went on Atkins and in 3 days my fasting blood sugar was 98. I stayed on it from June 1 2011 until mid October lost 37 more for a total of 57 pounds lost but then ate a piece of birthday cake (though I didn't crave a thing) and fell way off the wagon.. Got off Atkins and gained 20 back. I have been rocking back and forth with those 20 or 30 pounds for years and now it has to stop! UPDATE! IT DID STOP! I lost 42 pounds from Jan 1 2017 to the end of Sept. and my A1C dropped
