My Journey
I am a single middle aged woman who takes care of a nephew and my parents. I enjoy life and people and am looking forward to the new beginning afforded me by the recent closing of the facility I used to work in and the new opportunity with a new company in a new city. I am looking forward to meeting new people and challenges in my life and to making myself less of a "homebody" than I have been in the last decade or so. If you want to know anything about me just ask me! Update: ...
Update: Due to unfortunate circumstances my nephew is no longer with me. At 15 he decided he knew everything there was to know and refused to follow any of the rules at home or anywhere else. He also became abusive to my parents mentally, verbally and, unfortunately, physically. He backed me into a corner and I had no choice but to relinquish custody of him to the state of Tx. He got into quite a bit of trouble and is currently locked up in juvenile detention pending court decisions on his placement. I get to visit with him for about 15-20 minutes on Saturdays. In many ways this is hard on me but in many others the stress has disappeared. My kiddo has several mental conditions and I hope that the state can provide him with the more intensive treatment I could never afford. As for the new job... It is great! I love the people and have really come to love Lubbock. I appreciate that the people in my new city are friendly and helpful. I've made some good friends and don't stay at home as much as I did before. I've joined a gym and am starting to get into a routine of working out so I can be more fit as I loose weight. I have a new passion! I bought a motorcycle in the late summer and I LOVE riding whenever I get the chance. I hope to take a long trip either in the spring or fall and am considering heading to Chaco Canyon, NM.

My Program:
Basically I am tracking my food intake. I find that this is one of the best ways to keep on track for loosing weight. I hope to get feeling better where I can begin exercising without hurting so much I quit after loosing some of this weight. Right now just walking aggrivates my lower back, knees and hips that it is difficult to get up from a chair or bed after a good one....I need to find a pool!
Personal Information:
I was born and raised in sunny southern California. I grew up in a very small town in the Mojave desert named Trona. I played at college in Bakersfield right after HS then moved to Mobile, Al. After about eight years there I ended up in Texas and have been here ever since.
Other Information:
I love to read. I enjoy camping when I feel good, usually in the spring and fall when it's not too hot. I like playing games on the computer and to a lesser extent on consoles (generally, handheld platforms). I am guardian to my nephew and wouldn't know what to do without him. I love animals and tend toward exotic pets when I can have them (namely chinchillas and hedgehogs right now). I also have a dog and cat. I'm pretty shy face to face but once I get to know someone and get comfortable I open up. I want another motorcycle after moving to N/W Tx even though I have not ridden for the last 20 years! Renaissance festivals are a blast and I've worked several over the years.
