looking forward to healthier living by getting moving. as a 50-something diabetic with arthritic joints it has been too easy to stay in a comfortable sedantary rut. since finding sparkpeople a year ago I have cleaned up some bad habits and replaced them with water and walking. I find courage to try new activities through the exercise videos. after a year of staying the course with learning new eating habits, measurng portions, pre planning meals a week at a time I am finally starting to see the scale reflect the hard work and lifestyle changes.
I have completed round one of the Spark Solution Challenge- it was the 'learner's edition' for me. We will have spent 3 weeks on a family roadtrip vacation and then 2 weeks back at work and getting kids ready for school. I am redoing the challenge in September and adding in a combination of the 28 day boot camp, Coach Nicole's total body sculpting and Andrea Metcalfe's dvds Cardio, Strength and Pilates. Those 2 ladies keep me feeling good about moving.
Since starting spark my diabetes medicines have been reduced to half dosages- that has my endocrinologist very happy. It is another 9 months until I see him again- so I will keep working hard and see what the pay offs are by then

It wasn't the BF who offered up the excuse, it was my DD, who is also my spark buddy and knows I'll count shoveling for cardio. But yeah, really, only thing lame about him at times are his excuses!

You are so smart Colleen, about finding the cause, and fixing it-much like fixing a flat. My Dr is only interested in the symptoms and medicating me, he attributes every thing to the Lupus, and it's constant, multitude of manifestations. I want to control the inflammation, and am looking at changing some things in my diet to see if it helps. Thanks for your prayers, I can feel them! Many blessings on your day as well!
