Iíve been skating with a recreational roller derby league, the Mad Wreckin Dolls, for 3 years! I want to get into better shape so that I can keep playing for as long as possible. Once Iím done with my Bachelors, Iíd like to try out for a bouting league. I love roller skating, reading, eating, knitting, my puppy, movies, and going dancing. Iíve recently discovered that I like working out, even though my natural state is to be VERY lazy.
Iíve been on and off Spark for several years now, and under several different names, but this time seems different. It seems to be working, and working quickly. I joined a gym at the beginning of the year, and have stuck with my workout 95%. Iím currently wrapping up Phase 1 of the New Rules of Lifting for Women program. I have started this program several times but have never finished Phase 1, so Iím excited about that.
Iíve also decided to run a 5k in October. I just started training for that. I know itís a long time off but I suffer from shin splints so need to take it very slow. (I've decided to scrap the 5k for now.)
I still need to work on my nutrition, which I think will be the key to losing these last 12 or so pounds. Iíve quit eating fast food and soda COMPLETELY (Yay!) and have lost 8 pounds so far. Iím still trying to figure out how much I can eat and still lose weight without being hungry. Also, I start playing derby again in 5 weeks and I need to figure out what to eat before and after so that I am not RAVENOUS after a 2 hour practice.
