I'm pretty easy going but I'm also very technical which makes me very critical of everything. I'm learning to identify that critical/technical voice and filter out what's reasonable and what's not but it can be confusing. I'm a Virgo and I'm an ISTP from the Meyers Briggs tests. I enjoy big picture stuff but can get caught up in the details. Sometimes I feel like I'm both sides of the coin rather than one side or the other.

If you go into my photo gallery be warned that although there is nothing inappropriate you may be affected by my before pictures of me at 285 pounds. I'll update them with pictures at 250 pounds soon.

Note: I've discovered there's someone out on the internet who's using my name "CoolHandJoe" so if you want to know if what you've found belongs to me then just ask.
Addendum to Note: It appears that CoolHandJoe has caught on and people are adopting it left and right. There are now at least 11 different people using my handle since I came up with it four years ago. Please don't hold me responsible for anything those others might do. My posts will generally be about IT, not about wrestling, cycling, or anything to do with the UK.

My Goals:
I want to get rid of the inconvenience of being overweight. I'm almost 300 lbs and still functional for my job but tying my shoes is a pain. I'd like to get down to 200 but would settle for 220 which is where I was comfortable the last time I lost a bunch of weight.

My Program:
I'm just following the SparkPeople program right now in hopes that I'll learn some new techniques to help me keep it off. Just tracking the food and calories here is very helpful already.

William Ernest Henley - Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
