Everyone goes through times when they feel defeated or discouraged. The trick is to never give up. My current motto: "Own your s**t !!!"
Walk the dog at least once daily.
Achieve a base of 10K steps EVERY SINGLE DAY. Not one day off!
Start weekdays with a minimum of 10 minutes of meditative prayer.
Reach my current goal weight (195 lbs) by Memorial Day 2015
Have my studio/workroom decorated, work-friendly, and energizing by Groundhog Day 2015
I was prompted to start making changes not only because I was sick & tired of feeling sick & tired, but to finally get off the yo-yo weight/fitness cycles for good.
I use the SP Nutrition tracker, and log into SP every day. SparkCoach is helpful in keeping my mind on what i call my 'step-goals', i.e. baby steps on my way to a better, healthier life.
I pack a lunch almost every work day, rather than eating out. I also try hard to avoid processed and/or high sugar foods.
At this stage my daily cardio varies between walking while at work and using an elliptical trainer at home. My strength training uses a changing mix of resistance bands, dumbbells, and body weight exercises. My daily goal is for at least 10 minutes of moderate exercise daily, though typically I do between twenty & fifty minutes daily.
I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and moved to New Mexico with my former partner Jim in 1997. I LOVE NEW MEXICO!!!
I met my husband Wes on July 16, 2002. We live in a 160+ year old adobe farmhouse which we extensively renovated & expanded a couple of years ago.
One of the joys of my life is our Russell Terrier, Flapjack. He's nine years old and makes me laugh at least once every day with his clever antics.
Wes & i are active in our welcoming Episcopal parish, where we sing in the choir.
Over the past 10 years I've traveled to Los Angeles many times, preferring to do so on Amtrak. Trains are the BEST way to go! In LA I especially like Santa Monica, Malibu and of course, WeHo!
Used to be very involved in the Albuquerque LGBT and leather communities, but in the past few years have turned into a homebody.
I love horror movies, film noir, classic musicals, etc. I also love to cook, read, meditate & shop (too much on that last one - trying to keep spending in check.)
Some favorite books: The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon (Spanbauer), LoTR series (Tolkein), Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, anything by Thomas Merton.
Some of my all time favorite movies: The Lion in Winter, Tank Girl, Auntie Mame, The Narrow Margin, To Have & Have Not, The Women.
