I had to do some major rearranging in my life. At 5'3" tall, I was tipping the scales at 260 pounds. I needed to do something.

I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I can not remember a time when I wasn't on some type of fad diet trying to lose weight.

After many failed attempts, and the realization that years of abusing my body had taken a toll, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)

Like many people, I thought surgery was the "easy way out" and for years refused to even consider it. I found myself at wits end however, and it was starting to look like a possible option.

I did my research, attended a seminar given by the local hospitals Bariatric Team, and then, with all information in hand, I made an appointment with my family doctor. Together, her and I decided that WLS was a very viable option.

On April 10, 2012 I underwent Roux N Y Gastric Bypass Surgery. It was NOT easy. It was a struggle each and every day, but in the end was totally and completely worth it.

To date I have lost 137 pounds.
I went from a Size 22/24 to a 2/4

Best of all, I have discovered a part of me I never, ever, not even in a million years, knew existed... my inner athlete. Apparently, she was hiding deep inside somewhere I never knew existed.

I went from not even being able to walk up a flight of stairs to completing a 8 Mile Mud Run.

Now, that I have done all of the rearranging - it is working on maintaining all that I have accomplished.

emoticon The Motivator of the Day. What an honor.

Do listen to the six one-hour lectures by JASON FUNG M.D. on YouTube, since he explains why Gastric Bypass Surgery really is a form of Fasting that thus reverses Type 2 diabetes. His lectures are on Insulin Resistance and Obesity. I've learned so much from him. He works with patients who have kidney failure and most of them have Diabetes.
Half of all people who have Weight Loss Surgery regain all the weight again after two years, so it really is important to learn to not overeat and stretch the stomach back again. One woman on "The Fat Doctor" series from the BBC talked about how she still had six small meals each day so she didn't regain the weight as she'd paid cash for the operation that in England cost $20,000. At the time she didn't have any serious health issues so she didn't qualify for it on the Free medical system.

A while back you wrote about your by-pass procedure. Some people just cannot be happy for others. You had a dangerous medical procedure. You did what was right for you. The doctor wouldn't have done it, if it wasn't right for you.

Ignore the nasty, and enjoy your life.
