Life's a Journey

It's been a long time since I updated this and it was drastically out of date, so here goes:

I'm 33. I work retail. This means I spend a fair amount of time on my feet, but my schedule is fairly random. Combine this with my ADHD and I have a hard time developing routines that work for me. Of course the more times you fail at something the more you learn what does and does not work. So here's to putting some of that knowledge to work.

My goals:
I want to loose weight, yes. In the past I've said that is not what I want to focus on and ultimately that is still the case. I have no desire to be thin and I'm not concerned with superficial beauty. I am however concerned with my health and I have a growing awareness how my extra weight affects my health, especially after a recent injury. So I would like to loose enough so that I feel healthy again.

My Goals:
My primary goal is simply become healthier. I have some chronic pain issues which I would like to improve. I want to feel healthy, sexy, and powerful.

My Program:
Using the nutrition tracker consistently to monitor my actual eating habits.

Using the resources I have found/created to plan most of my meals.

Eating breakfast regularly and keeping the pantry stocked with a variety quick grab and go breakfast items.

Taking my lunch rather than working the 8 or so hours straight and using that time to get in some vegetable servings.

Increasing my activity by using a combination of wiifit and fitbit with the goal of joining an inexpensive gym once I've achieved a comfortable baseline.


Personal Information:
I love to travel. I want to travel the U.S.A. Basically take one hell of a roadtrip and drive across the country and back. I want to sample good food, hike in diverse naturescapes and enjoy the variety of what makes each place unique.

I'm a budding photographer. I don't have a DSLR yet, but that will be my next step. I'm into nature photography, and cityscapes mostly.

I love music. I would love to travel to some of the different music festival across the country each summer. Currently I regularly attend a certain festival in Michigan each August, as well as a local Iowa one on the weekend of July 4th.

Food is a passion of mine, including all aspects of it. I enjoy learning about the history of food, about the marketing of it, about agricultural and production issues, and of course the preparing and eating of food. I've been a vegetarian for quite a long time now. I try to eat as local and organic as practical.

Hi. I am in Texas, not Iowa but I know there is a walking club in your area if you are interested in participating in local events on a regular basis. I do similar walks every weekend. We are not "fund raising" clubs, we are for fun, fitness and fellowship. Our clubs are family oriented and most events are baby stroller, and pet friendly. Our object is to keep a record book and collect a stamp for each event that we do. I've done over a 1000 of the 10K events in Texas and in 46 other states.
