Taking slow but significant steps toward a better life!

Hi. I'm Claudia.

I've been overweight or obese my entire life. And I feel like I've been dieting my whole life. This has been a slow process of truly educating myself on the fuel my body needs and how my body functions best. I do my best to focus on whole foods, mostly vegetarian and vegan when I can (and want to...let's be honest!), and avoid chemicals and other "who knows??" ingredients.

I have a passion for food and cooking, which can definitely be a downfall. But I also have a knowledge about foods and what they do inside each of our bodies...and I use that to my advantage! I'm creative and like to think outside the box with cooking. Cooking is my stress relief; the balance happens when I don't let the eating part be my stress relief. (And that I'm most definitely still working on!)

I've spent too long in denial about the state of my body, so I'm taking slow but significant steps toward better health and a better life!

I don't like deadlines when it comes to weight loss. I think they're encouraging sometimes, maybe for a challenge or something. But our bodies are so unique and each week something new is happening inside us that could make us fluctuate. When a deadline is not met, it becomes a deciding point, to go on or to be discouraged and quit. I'm not giving myself that choice. So, no deadlines this time. Besides, this isn't temporary! It's permanent. It's my life. And I love it!

Goals for the short term:
-Start C25K again! (DONE! 7/9/11) (DONE AGAIN! 5/6/12)
-Run a mile straight for the first time EVER EVER EVERRR (DONE! 8/11/11, the day before my 26th birthday!)
-Complete an offical 5k race, scheduled for October 29, 2011 (DONE 10/29/11! Run/Walking in 43:39!)
-Run 2 miles straight for the first time EVER EVER EVERRR (Almost there!...But I do think I might have done this during my 25 min run in c25k...not sure though!)
-Run 3.1 (5k) miles straight for the first time EVER EVER EVERRR
-Complete C25K

-Get under 200 pounds for forever

I'll update the weight loss goal as it comes up, and the fitness/adventure/challenge goals as they arise as well! Can't wait to see what this body can do!

Woot woot... 4th run of the week for me; I am thinking of you! Haven't done ANY running for a long time, but starting to feel like I can hit the groove again! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm more or less MIA all the time now. Spark was/is great, but I needed to step back. I'm working on my first mini-goal of 10lbs lost. For the last month I've been going back and forth gaining and losing the same 3lbs, but that's ok. I'm only watching what I eat, not focusing a lot on exercise right now, so I know that's partially why. Still, I am so close to 10lbs lost just with eating better, so I'm happy with it. Hopefully super soon I can actually meet that goal instead of constantly almost meeting it lol. How about you?
