I am a stay-at-home mom for the last 19 years. My oldest, a girl, is still liing with us and preparing for a mission. I also have a 15 year old son.
I also claim my husband's kids from a previous marriage as my own. There are two girls and three boys - all betweein the ages of 31 and 38. We have three granddaughters and a grandson
Our life has been pretty chaotic the last few years. There is another child in our family, who was taken home in 2007 by a loving Heavenly Father. She had a severe case of Fetal Alcohol Effects. She displayed symptoms of ADHD, Bi-polar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder- just to name a few. It just broke our hearts to watch her struggle day to day. Her lack of impulse control ultimately cost her her life, when she rode her bike into the street and was run over by a pick-up truck. The quiet in our home was deafening.
We miss her dearly, but have adjusted to a new normal. Our faith has sustained us and is now the motivating force in making changes in our lives. We are slowly replacing bad habits with good habits. Personally, I dedicate my journey to my daughter, Kayla, who knew and loved her Savior and is now safely in his arms. I want to become the best I can be, so one day I will be able to hear her say again, "Good job, Mom!"
I know I could not make this journey without the loving support of my wonderful husband and my sweet children, nor without my Father in Heaven, who has blessed me so richly and has strengthened me in my weaknesses. My heart is full of gratitude for everything I have been blessed with. Life is good!
I am going to be healthy and hope to get off the diabetes medication in time. I need to loose abt. 150 lbs. This will bring me down to 145 lbs and a healthy BMI.
I will feel better about myself and will be better able to serve the Lord. In order to do so I am increasing my spirituality.
My short term goal is to weigh 270 lbs by the end of June.
- At this point I am staying between 1200 and 1500 cal using the exchange diet, making sure I meet my targets for various nutrients.
- I weigh and track everything I eat
- Minimum 8 glasses of water
- Chair Exercises, wall-pushups
- limited cardio for now until pools open up in May
I am originally from Germany, but have lived in So Cal for 22 years. I have 3 adopted children. I have served as an LDS missionary in the Switzerland Zurich Mission from 84-86. My best friend and I have been married for 26 years.
I love to read, swim, do genealogy and hang out with my kids.

Mein Deutsch ist schrechlich. I habe shon viel verloren. Ich Kann immer noch mein Zeugnis auf Deutch sagen, aber gramatik ist ein gran problem. Ich habe es nich benutzen zeit 13 yahre. Ich liebe in der Kirche die Lieder singen auf Deutsch immer noch. Es ferviert die sing leiter.
OK, enough... my Spanish and German are mixed in my mind and I am too tired to sort it out tonight... We oughta use it though...

I appreciated your comments of support on my blog. Today is one of those hard days. My oldest had a friend spend the day and over night with us and my 10 yo broke down and bawled... He cried because my oldest really only had one friend. Tim who was just killed by a train. It made my 10yo very lonely for Tim.
Hey we are known in the community, and email as the kendallzoo. I had to laugh at your user name. Also I served my mission in Munich Germany 1994-1995. I just feel we have several connections...

To Sp Class of June 22. I am happy to see that you have found some teams that interest you. Take your time and hunt around and get comfortable with the site.. it's all here.. a wealth of information to help you lose weight, feel great and change your lifestyle for the better. Try to spend some time looking at other Sparkpages and be sure to leave them a comment.. you will find many tips and friends in the process. Learn to use the nutrition log.. it will make such a difference in your success here.
