EDIT 7-31-11: I just realized that I hadn't updated my introduction section since before I got married last October! My overall reasons for SparkPeople haven't changed - establishing healthy habits. But when I joined SP, I was a single woman rebuilding my life after divorce. Now, I'm married and expecting my first baby in 2 to 3 weeks. I'm realizing that I'll need support in different areas now than I did when I joined!

Really, I'm just trying to be more healthy. I've never been particularly coordinated, and I've been more focused on my brain than my body. A couple years ago, I realized that in order for my brain to be healthy, my body had to be healthy too. So, I'm taking a wholistic approach. Mind, body, spirit, if you will.

I want to be comfortable in my own skin, have energy, feel happy and balanced, and not regret my life.

Establish a walking schedule.

Re-do Couch to 5k program then begin training for a half-marathon.

Hobbies: Reading, writing, gaming, drawing, cooking/baking, running

Other Information:
I live with my husband, son, roommate, two cats, and an energetic lab mix puppy in a tiny suburban house right now. I'm an PhD student in English, with hopes of teaching college someday. My main exercise program is walking/running, although I'm trying to build a yoga practice. I falter desperately whenever I try to work in strength training.

I'm glad that you are feeling better, and hopefully you made it through your crazy week!

My new job is going well, and it is actually helping me stay on track with my fitness goals (I'm not at home, reaching for a snack every time Gwyn would cry, now emoticon ). Were you able to go for your walk?

Saint Louis Spark People Rally-Please Come!!!

OK, so how's the MO Botanical Garden on July 17 at 9 a.m. sound? We could meet at the Visitor's Center and walk around for 2 hours-there's a 'Health Fair' going on the same day, too! If you're a resident of St. Louis County or St. Louis City, admission is FREE before noon-otherwise it's $8 for adults...the place opens at 9 a.m., so it wouldn't be quite as hot then, but we could do 10 as well...lots to do/see here & plenty of walking exercise & time to get to know fellow STL 'Sparkers'!!!

I am really lucky - I have from now till August, when classes start, to just relax and enjoy life. But, once law school starts, I am going to be insanely busy and stressed, so I think it all works out in the end :)

How are things with you? How is the wedding planning going?
