Iím Connie and Iím from Louisiana. I woke up one morning disgusted with myself at all the weight I had put on. My health was not good; I was a diabetic dependent on insulin. In a given day I took eleven different prescription pills not including all the pain medicine or pain patches that I used. I had thyroid cancer in 2008 and I went regularly to a pain management clinic for steroid shots for two bulging discs in my back. On one of my visits to my family doctor I mentioned how disgusted I was with myself and that I would do anything to get myself back into shape and mentioned weight loss surgery. He then talked to me about having gastric by pass surgery and I went home and did a lot of reading on the internet and decided that was the thing for me.
On August 8, 2013 I had gastric by pass surgery and I am amazed at the difference in my health today. I am no longer insulin dependent and I went from taking eleven pills a day to just one pill a day. On my last visit to see my family doctor the surprised look on his face as he came in the room made me feel so good. Iím just so thankful that he encouraged me to have this surgery.
This journey has not been easy the surgery itís self was rough. Learning a new way to eat and drink has been a challenge after years of stuffing and drowning myself in food and drink. Not only do I have to conquer the weight but I also need to conquer my bad habits that got me to where I was. I was a very emotional eater and itís still something that I have to work on. Iím fighting for every pound that I lose now it's not as easy to lose like at first.
Iím close to the finish line of where I want to be as far as weight goes. These last few pounds are the hardest but I know that I can do it. Iíve come too far to quit now. My birthday is June the 10th and I am pushing to be at my weight goal by then.
