My overall goal is to be more active I will add in some yoga or spark people videos in the evenings M / W / F

Update December 28, 2015

I am continuing with the 5% Challenges. It makes me face my weight every week and I am beginning to see how my day to day activities affect it. My goal is still to be medicine free and in 2016 I will put everything I have into staying on track. 2015 brought a lot of changes to my life and for the first time in over 30 years the only person I have to take care of is me.

Update September 10, 2015.

I will be starting the Fall Challenge in a couple weeks. This will be the first time I can be fully committed and I plan to do just that. I really want to make strength training a priority. It seems to fall to the bottom of the list when life gets busy. I manage to do cardio so the goal here is to increase my time and number of times.

June 2015.......

I am looking forward to the Summer Challenge. During the next 8 weeks I hope to meet the 5% goal and develop some good habits. I will do this by eating a plant based diet and my favorite exercise, walking. I will also do some strength training at least 3 days a week.

Update January 1, 2013.........

I decided it was time to update my goals or fine tune them. My goal is still to be medicine free but now I see I must put my plan to get there in writing.

Habakkuk 2:2 says Write the vision and make it plain.

In the first phase of my plan for this year I comitt to tracking my food daily and exercising at least 10 minutes every day. I know just doing these two things will make a big difference in my health. That is all for now. I will update my plan as needed. Right now the biggest need is for consistency in these two areas.

More to come..........

My Goals:
My goal is to be healthy!

I will do this by eating right and exercising.

I don't want a bunch of rules to follow. I have found the McDougall plan the easiest route to take so far. Eat Starches period. I am going to commit to this way of eating for 2016 and evaluate my progress in one year.

My exercise goals will be to increase strengh training and continue with the cardio. I go to the gym now but am working on getting equipment in my home so the weather will not impact my ability to workout.

My Program:
Whole Foods Plant Based

Other Information:
In August 2015 I entered a new phase of my life. Empty nest. It still feels strange but for the first time in over 30 years when I come home the only person I have to take care of is me.

I am using this challenge as a guide to do just that.

Thank you so much! that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me! I enjoyed writing about my adventures and trials, and I appreciate your interest in them! I never even got a comment on the first blog I ever wrote. So many of my old original friends have left or are inactive on the site. I really felt I wasn't helping much anymore, but also needed to get more focused on my health. I wish you all the best in your journey! I also found a great online dance exercise site on Youtube -Dance Faith Fitness -really great upbeat music Zumba style when you want light exercise that will give you a boost. On my darkest days, I will play one of those videos and perk up. Christmas here is going to be bitterly cold and unsafe to travel -down to -40- to -50 for the next week as a polar vortex settles over us. Really going to need some uplifting music!!
Never lose that child like sense of wonder -throwing out a cup of hot java will freeze instantly in these temperatures!
