Plan-Track-Lose-Maintain!

Goal:
I will lose weight to about 110-115 pounds and maintain this weight for life because I want to feel confident with my body, be able to wear stylish clothes that I like and lead an active life with my husband. Cooking healthy meals and exercising are lifestyle priorities!

Action Plans:
1) I will lose between 20-27 pounds by July 2014 through exercising a minimum of 60 min. 6x/week and eating 1200-1550 calories per day and continue to make this my lifestyle after ...
Goal:

2) I will spend time strength training by doing HIT workouts, pilates, yoga or weight reps in addition to aerobic dancing and walking as part of my lifestyle.
3) I will research healthy recipes, menu plan on my Meal Board app for the week, grocery shop and prepare healthy, whole foods daily.
4) I will eat little to no flour or sugar because they contain high calories and little nutritional value.
5) I will drink 8 glasses of water per day.
6) I will add a fruit or vegetable at every meal.

Thank you Spark People for being such a supportive network of people as I continue to strive to be my best! I enjoy being part of something where people are making positive changes in their lives. The habits I have learned on Spark People have brought me great enjoyment. My exercise routines give me structure when I wake up everyday. I enjoy nurturing my marriage, my family, my friendships and my pets, but I have learned that I can't give my best to others without first nurturing myself. I receive great enjoyment from Zumba dancing, walking, riding my bike and some golf. Now I like strength training HIT workouts, yoga and dumb bell reps too! I enjoy being a healthy cook! The habits of exercise and cooking healthy meals fill me with great purpose everyday.

When I do not exercise or eat healthy, I become more lethargic and less engaged in all areas of my life. When I disengage, I begin to feel lost and without purpose. I do not like the feeling of being uncomfortable in my clothing when they become too tight. Nor do I like to look at overweight photographs of myself. When I am exercising and eating more healthy, I feel more confident. This confidence brings me positive energy which allows me to support and inspire others.

However, thinness alone does not make you a joyful person. What makes me feel happy is being grateful, contributing to society is some way, connecting with family and friends, developing talents and interests, having goals, being productive, spending time with nature, hugging my dogs, enjoying the arts and having a positive outlook. Joy is both an outside and inside job.

Everyone has a story. Everyone is struggling with something. I could blame extra weight on school deadlines, high stress jobs, injuries, the degenerated discs in my neck that flare up and cause me pain, genetics (obese family) or emotional times that have occurred in life. The truth is if I exercise regularly and eat healthy, then I should be able to keep my weight down for life! In the past, I have had a bit of a yo yo cycle with weight maintenance. I see myself gain some weight on the scale and then have bouts of "getting in shape" and "eating healthy" with some resulted weight loss. Then, over time I slowly stop putting the effort in and I get comfortable being lazy and choose to be in denial about not exercising and eating too much. Then I go back on the scale and inevitable see my weight gain again and start trying to change my habits to lose weight once more. By at least always reigning it in over the years, I have managed to be in the healthy weight range all of my life. However, as I have aged I see my weight has grown continually higher each year. This year I was very close to being classified as overweight, so I have decided to end the battle of the creep. I'm ready to make eating right and exercising an EVERYDAY lifestyle choice.

2010-2011...Joined SP and lost 20 pounds in 5 1/2 months from 135 to 113-115. Maintained 115 for 6 months.

2014...Back on SP to lose 20 pounds again and then stay on track with SP this time and maintain.

Personal Information:
I married my high school sweetheart and we have been together over 25 years (married 19)! We live in a college town in California with our two dogs. We also have a little vacation cottage near the beach where my husband likes to golf and I like to paint. We also like to hike, cook and walk our dogs together. Our other joys include travel and making plans with friends and family. I am a former public school teacher. Now I am working as an artist. I am in a sketch group and plein air painting group. I also fundraise for University Woman Scholarships and give art education lessons. I love to do Zumba and walk with my friend each week and started a dumbbells routine to tone my arms. When the weather is nice, I ride my bike to do errands or get groceries. I plan and cook healthy meals for my husband and myself every day.
