Trying to Lead an Active Lifestyle and Eat Healthy!

In the past, I have had a bit of a yo-yo cycle with weight maintenance. I see myself gain some weight on the scale and then have bouts of "getting in shape" and "eating healthy" with some resulted weight loss. Then, over time I slowly stop putting in the effort and I get comfortable being lazy and choose to be in denial about not exercising and eating too much. Next, I go back on the scale and inevitable see my weight gain again and start trying to change my habits to lose weight once more.

By at least reigning it in over the years, I have managed to be in the healthy weight range all of my life. However, as I have aged I see my weight has grown continually higher each year. This year, I was one pound away from being classified as overweight on the doctor's weight-height charts, so I have decided to end the battle of the creep. I am working on eating right and exercising EVERYDAY as part of my daily routine.

When I am out of shape, I just don't feel like me! When I do not exercise or eat healthy, I become lethargic and less engaged in all areas of my life. When I disengage, I begin to feel lost and without purpose. I really don't like the feeling of being uncomfortable in my clothing when they become too tight. I get really upset when I see overweight photographs of myself. That is why I will rarely show any of my heavier photographs! I do not accept the out of shape me very well!

Exercise helps me feel happier and more energized and I also sleep better! Exercise also makes me drink more water and eat better. I like to think of "food as fuel" and so I make healthier choices. When my clothes slide on easily and I look slimmer and prettier in photographs, I feel more confident! This confidence brings me positive energy which allows me to better support and inspire others.

I also like how my exercise routines give me daily structure. My day is not successful unless I have completed my exercise goal! I enjoy Zumba dancing, walk-running, riding my bike and golf. I like to think that "a body in motion, stays in motion". It is important to plan out my exercise times and healthy food items ahead of time because "failing to plan, is planning to fail". When I am on track with regular exercise and healthy eating I feel more like me!

I have learned to change and be flexible. Do not let life's roadblocks derail you! Everyone has a story. Everyone is struggling with something. Over the years I could blame extra weight on school deadlines, high stress jobs, injuries, the degenerated discs in my neck that flare up and cause me pain, genetics (obese family) or emotional times that have occurred in life. The truth is that if I exercise daily and eat healthy, then I will keep my goal weight for life!

My Goals:
Weight Goal=115

I feel best when I weigh between 115-120 pounds. As I've aged, my weight has risen to 135 at times.

I joined SP and lost 20 pounds in 5 1/2 months from 135 to 115. I maintained 115 for 6 months. I was running, doing zumba and golfing at least 6x per week. I was eating mostly vegetables, fruits, lean meat and drinking a lot of water. I felt great!

I'm trying to lead a healthy lifestyle where I feel youthful and energetic and look lean and fit again.

Personal Information:
I married my high school sweetheart and we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary this year and it has been 26 years since our first date! We have two dogs, Mocha and Cocoa, which we adore. My husband is a physician and I am a teacher. I am also an artist and work on painting landscapes. We live in beautiful Northern California and we also have a little vacation cottage near the ocean. We enjoy playing golf together, walking our dogs on the beach and getting together with family and friends.

You commented on my page months ago! Hello! It is nice to meet someone like you who is happily married without children. Sometimes I feel so pressured because you are supposed to do that. You are supposed to get married, get a dog, buy a house, and have children. And if you don't, people in all their nosey-ness just have to ask why. Argh!

Hey, it was great to get your comment on my page! I'm glad you're back and working on your goals :) I've been doing really well on Paleo, but lately have had trouble with sticking to it - I was being really good about saying NO, THANKS...but have started to become lax. My weight loss has stopped since March. But...I know what works, so it's just a matter of sticking with it. It's all part of this journey!
