Every Step of the Journey.....IS the Journey.

After working at losing weight for over a year, I've had a net weight loss of zero. No, you read it right. Zero. Lose, gain, lose, gain, lose gain. I have come to realize that I am afraid to lose weight, and I am exploring that with a therapist as I continue on my journey. I wanted to share this because I wonder if there are other people out there that struggle with the same fear.

For a lot of people, they want to get to their ultimate weight loss goal. Ideally, I would lose about 80 pounds, but that sounds incredibly scary and overwhelming to me. So for now my ultimate weight loss goal is to lose 10% of my body weight (21 lbs). I've got some health concerns that will likely get worse as a get older, so I want to lose 10% because I've read that it can be very beneficial to the body for my particular health concerns. First I will lose 5 lbs and then take it 5 lbs at a time from there.

I feel fortunate that I have never been one to do fad diets, but I have tried many approaches and have had a million different mind sets on my various attempts to lose weight. But you know what I read recently that keeps me going? "Past failure is not an indication of your potential for success in the future."

My Program:
Reward myself for my little victories, whether or not they involve the scale.

Make a mental note of how my clothes fit

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.
