Promise

I want not only to lose myself, but motivate my husband to lose as
well, for health reasons. Weight has been an ongoing battle all my
life, but has gotten worse with the Arthritis. Hard to do stuff when it hurts, however, dying prematurely is a big motivator.
*NOTE*
The 48 pounds I have lost since Sept.3, David has lost 36 trying
to help/support me.
I feel so much better...............

Darlene, I don't follow a specific plan for eating. Many cancer patients chose to go vegan and raw, but I would had a difficult time with that since I also have Crohn's disease. I don't eat any processed foods and buy organic whenever I can. I also eat only free range chicken, grass fed pastured beef, pastured chicken eggs etc. For fish, I stick to wild salmon, sardines, anchovies, wild caught shrimp....ocassionally I'll eat other types of seafood and fish. Always baked, steamed or broiled, never fried. For dairy, I drink raw whole organic milk from local pastured cows.

I do sometimes use the Cancer Fighting Cookbook which has good recipes that are healthy. I also have an good juicer (an Angel) which is very expensive, but I juice every day with it. Typical juices for me have carrots, chard, cucumbers, morenga leaves, tomato, lemongrass, beets, celery, apple, lime and mango in them. I usually have about 3 cups of freshly made veggie fruit juice every day.

I also take some supplements. Tumeric, vit d3 and two important ones for cancer patients. I take several others.

I think most cancer patients that are interested in using food as medicine do a ton of research on it and come up with a plan that works for them.

I did do a ketogenic diet for about a month when I was first diagnosed, but my blood lab results were starting to get very strange so I decided to add back in more carbs. I avoid sugar like the plague.

Dr. Block has a good book called Life Over Cancer that is great. He is an integrative oncologist in the Chicago area. Another great book is called Anticancer: A New Way Of Life. It was written by an MD with a brain tumor. He ultimately died of brain cancer, but lived for over twenty years with it. Most brain cancer patients don't last more than 6-12 months, so he was a success by traditional standards and his book is very good.

Hope that helps. I wish your friend's husband the best. What kind of cancer does he have?

I am needing to lose somewhere between 40-50 more. Due to the recent gain. I went more than a couple of months sliding. The good news is, I continued to track daily and half heartedly stayed active on here. Christmas was when the down fall began for me. So we are talking 20 lbs back I packed on. It sure is a learning process, huh!?

Hi Darlene! Thanks for your support on my blogs. I'm sticking with no processed foods, juicing veggies every day and taking various supplements that are supposed to help fight cancer. I plan on doing all of that at least until I hit the 5 year mark of being cancer free. After that, I doubt I will do things a whole lot differently. I just feel so much better eating only whole organic foods.

Hope you are doing well.

Hugs,
Kay
