Update July 26, 2011:
Well, well, well look at me - my brain and middle have agreed that my brain was right...lol!

I am so please to report that since starting with SparkPeople on May 4, 2011 I have lost 17lbs! I am now in my healthy BMI zone and feel better than I have in years!

I started slowly by watching what I was eating and tracking every morsel good or bad in Spark. Next I worked at adding cardio into my routine. That was definitely more difficult for me than the food. Now am am training for a 5K run! Finally, last week I joined a gym and am working with a trainer to build on my strength training.

Not only that, but it has become 'catchy'....my daughter has started to workout. And, my husband has started to walk with me and has joined the gym with me where we do our strength training and cardio (in the air condition)!

Entered May 4, 2011:
A few years ago I turned 40, before I knew it, I was falling apart. I was in an accident that left me with a ruptured disc and pain every day and I slowed down. Last summer while being treated for menegitis I learned that I had 2 heart defects. They had never caused me problems, but now they were flaring up and slowing me down even more. One day this winter it hit me...This isn't who I want to be. I was always active and trim and as each year passes I realized that I'm a few pounds heavier than the year before and several pounds heavier than the years before that. My brain didn't like what it saw in the mirror. In my brain I am still young and active (my mucsles and various sized jeans disagree). So...here I am getting healthy for my heart and skinny for my brain :)
