& SPARKPEOPLE are saving my life.

My journey with SparkPeople began in May 2009 when I weighed somewhere around (more than but the scale didn't go that high) 460 pounds. My doctor advised me to LOSE WEIGHT OR DIE. Because of that I went straight to the YMCA & got involved with their aquatic department. Thanks to water aerobics & swimming, I am healthier today than I have been in years. I not only participate but I teach WA & swim classes daily. Exercise in the water is the BEST way for me to lose weight & stay healthy without too much pain.

One day at a time, my life is changing for the better. I am blessed to be a part of a few awesome team families. The support & encouragement that I find on these teams is wonderful. I am PASSIONATE about leading the LOVELY LIMES BLC team famiy.
I am also involved in 2 awesome private Spark Teams that help me with my program. The 1st team is called: FRIENDly Persuasion: a safe haven for friends The 2nd team is called: The Path to Freedom--Loving Ourselves Healthy BOTH teams are "friendship" teams. The 1st provides a stress-free environment for loving, inspiring & supporting one another. The 2nd is similar but geared towards people that HAVE or NEED to lose 200 lbs or more. My Goals:
My long term goal is to reach my goal wt of 185. Ultimately, my goal is to be the healthiest and happiest that I can be & to continue to be an active member of the YMCA Aquatic staff where I teach water aerobics & swim lessons!

My Program:
I use the SP fitness & food trackers daily. Do at least 60 mins cardio, & 30 mins strength training 6 days a week! Stay active on SP finding & sharing motivation. LOVE MYSELF HEALTHY & spreading Kindness & Positiveness.

Personal Information:
My name is Dawn & I live in Martinsville VA. I have 2 grown sons & a "heart daughter". I have 14 grandchildren (7 biological & 7 "heart") with another one due on May 25th, 2016. My husband Paul is Welsh. Together we live with my eldest son & his wife & their two children. We have a HAPPY house (most days) and are very grateful. We live less than a half mile from our church where all of my family here in Mvlle attend. God is good.

Other Information:
my hobbies are: water aerobics & swimming , reading, crocheting, & spending time w/my grandchildren.

    So before you give the tatas a once-over, let’s get in a workout first! The exercises listed have a modifier with each, so you can join in at any fitness level! If there’s still something you are unable to do, please modify to meet your specific needs! The point isn’t to show your strength training prowess and be the best of the best. The point is to PARTICIPATE! Now let’s get a little hooter sweat going before we hop in the shower to do our self exams!

    S-50 SQUATS (50 Adductor/Abductors)

    E-50 FRONT JABS (50 Seated Biceps Curls)

    L- 30 LATERAL LUNGES (30 Seated Hip Extensions)

    F-30 FORWARD LUNGES (30 Squats, holding the back of a chair)

    E-50 JUMPING JACKS (50 Seated Jumping Jacks)

    X-30 PUSH UPS (30 Wall Pushups)

    A-30 ALTERNATING HAMSTRING CURLS (30 Standing Hip Flexion/Extension holding the back of a chair or wall)

    M-50 HIGH KNEE MARCH IN PLACE (50 Seated High Knee Marches)

    Do what you can, modify what you need to, but try your best, regardless of fitness level! If you’ve got a suggestion on an exercise you’d like to see incorporated into the challenges, please let us know!
