Hi! I'm Kim...a 41 year old vegetarian mother of two nearly adult children (20 and 21). I'm married to my high school sweetheart. I lost 120 pounds through gastric by-pass surgery. This has been a great tool...not a quick fix or easy way, as some think. I still have more weight to lose. And my "window of opportunity" is just about closed. I've lost what they (doctors) predicted I'd lose with the surgery. The rest will have to come through more life style changes. I've ...
I've made a lot of them so far...but if I want to keep losing, I'll have to make some more...exercise more, eat less...it's that simple. Currently, I eat quite healthily, with some occasional binges. My exercise is the area where I'm most willing to make more changes. I don't knock myself out with exercise. I'm active and I walk a lot. But I don't often work up a sweat. I could certainly do more in that area. I have managed, for the first time in my life, to figure out how to maintain weight. I've never been able to do that before. I've lost and I've gained...never, ever maintained. Unfortunately, I've been maintaining at a weight I'd rather not be at! So now that I've learned how to do that, I need to tuck it away until I get at my goal weight...and employ my weight loss techniques! 11/20/08 Update: I slacked off and I've gained some weight back...I find this quite terrifying and am trying to get back on track after a few months of really not following a food plan and not exercising. I'm reaching out for help and that's not something I'm very good at. I've found a couple of super spark friends here! I hope everyone is able to find a spark friend as good as my two are at keeping me on track and gently prodding me in the right direction!

My Goals:
My general goal is to find and keep better health. My first mini goal is to weigh less than my husband...so very close! My second goal is to be under 200 pounds. My "eventual" goal is to be under 150.
My Program:
I'm vegetarian, so my program is to eat three vegetarian meals a day, no snacking in between, keeping fat and sugar intake low. Also not eating a lot of carbs. Not always the easiest thing to do! Exercise: In "fun" forms...hiking, biking, walking the dogs briskly. In the past, making myself get up early to go to the gym always felt like a punishment. So I'm trying to find fun forms of exercise, to get rid of that feeling!
Personal Information:
I live in upstate New York and have my whole life. I've not traveled much, but would like to someday. We have two young adult children going to college.
Other Information:
I have found supportive people here, who spur me on to reach and maintain my goals...and I hope I can do that for some of you, as well!
