Is grateful I'm getting healthy

I'm a 62 year old woman that has diabetes. Spark People was recommended to me by my daughter. Since I love computers and working on them, I thought this would be a perfect place to lose what weight I needed to. I have learned to make this a lifestyle change not just lose weight. It has been an exciting journey and is so much fun with the articles and the games, and the motivators. I am so glad I joined.

I just read your comment on an article about the lady who "beat diabetes" I think...

I will be 62 next month and have had diabetes since 2006...and had a heart attack this year on June 6th. I am in so much trouble!

I see you have lost a lot of weight and I know that's a major key in better control. Kudos to you!

Wishing you a blessed day......and continued success!
Bren

If you know any really GOOD presidential biographies, let me know! Like you, I'm more interested in their lives than the politics, so if you enjoyed it I likely will, too. DH likes biographies also and it gives me some ideas for quality gift-giving!

I just saw your comment on the "What are you reading" message board in the game room on how many books I'm reading. Actually, I'm not reading all of those at once! It's a message board that doesn't get a lot of activity, and when I go in to post something I've been reading it isn't unusual that no one else has been there. That being said, I do read a fair amount - about 85 books so far this year. I'm pretty certain I'm not going to live long enough to read everything on my "To Read" list!!!

Hi Deb, Thanks for stopping by my page and my blog. In answer to your question about the crocheted hats, I would think that most hospitals that have cancer patients would welcome hats to distribute to those patients, as many can't afford wigs, and they need head coverings for the cold weather. Get in touch with their human services or social work depts. Also, check out any soup kitchens, food pantries, churches, or community outreaches in your area. Many collect warm clothes, blankets, and of course, hats, scarves and gloves for the homeless. If you go on facebook to your friends, or enlist the help of organizations or church you belong to, you can probably get others to join in your efforts. I think its great that you are so willing to help others and I hope you are as filed with peace and joy as I am in your efforts! And I hope the pounds just melt off you as well as you crochet instead of snack. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Please stay in touch. I'll friend you today!
