2014 ..... a New Year toward healthy !!!!

As I start my 4th year of learning to live healthy I have accepted that this is a new way of life and I like it !!! It has it's ups and it's downs, just like everyday life. It's no different; it's just a choice I choose so that I can live a longer fuller active life that my very over weight previous self could not have done. I am a happy positive motivated person with a vision of the future now.

2013 ended without a change in my weight but it was still a success as it did end ...

2013 ended without a change in my weight but it was still a success as it did end with me walking on a regular basis, which I will increase in 2014 and my goal will be to get to One-derland by year's end.

I will blog about these changes as they happen because that's what we SPARKPEOPLE do. We share with each other our successes, our accomplishments, our NSV, our temptations, and so much more. We give and we get motivation, inspiration and encouragement and we stay strong together.

If we are truly serious and committed to changing the way we think about food and fitness and want to live a healthy life then we have to learn how to do it and SP is the place to be.

The Beginning 2010 : ........

After being unemployed for nearly 2 years and a bout of depression to go with it, I promised myself when I did get a job I would quit smoking. Well I was offered a job the Wednesday before Xmas 2009 and quit smoking Xmas day 2009, and I started my new job on 1/4/10 .

I have always had issues with my weight and during my unemployment I ballooned to my highest ever. My dearest friends would make suggestions and offers to get me motivated but I was deaf to their voices. Finally working again and not smoking I started to get concerned about gaining more weight and I literly woke up one morning mid Jan 2010 and said "today is the day".

So Jan 15th 2010 the journey began for me and by Oct 2010 I had lost 57 pounds. I had been very active with researching and reading and learning as much as I could online about nutrition and eating healthy and then after reading a post on the Hungry Girl web site that same month I found SPARKPEOPLE and decided to check it out. I was looking for another means of motivation and am so glad I looked here. I became very involved and active with reading the articles and message boards before I really decide to take part in the "program". Now I am here daily and love it. I have made some wonderful friends and have learned so much about how to make changes to a healthy lifestyle and making it permanent.

Hello there! How are you doing?? I have been doing terrible about getting on SP! I pretty much cook out of the same two Cooking Light cook books, and I eat my dinner leftovers at lunch so even if I don't track my food every day, I generally know how much I am eating. Which means I haven't been pushing myself as hard to even get on my SP app on my phone and track my food. I'm trying to remind myself to get on it every few days so I can keep up with my Spark friends better and update my status a little more often. I get overwhelmed very easily and am no stranger to throwing my hands in the air and stepping back from everything a little bit.

My vacation was fun! It was so great to be at the beach for a week! I love being in/around the water. It is just so relaxing. It was kind of a pain being there with my (pregnant) sister-in-law and my nephew, especially since my brother wasn't able to take off work. My SIL seemed to not want to take care of her son at all that week and would just walk away and expect everyone else to take care of him. I was happy to help out sometimes, but I expected her to ask and say things like "please" and "thank you" and how long she wanted me to watch him. So she kinda of ruined parts of our vacation. Part of the trip was supposed to be for my husband and my 5th anniversary, so on the last day we just had to leave and do our own thing. It was nice but at the same time it was supposed to be a family vacation and I didn't get to spend as much time with my parents, especially my mom, as much as I would have liked. I guess it explains why my parents have already decided to come see us this weekend.

I'm so glad to hear you're getting a raise at work soon! Its so wonderful that you love your job and are so happy to be doing it, but its also nice to get some financial recognition for that. I know you work hard and you are always so positive. You deserve it!

I hope you are doing well otherwise. I'll make sure I'll log in a couple times a week so I can check in and post some updates. It's been hard to stay motivated and want to keep taking the time for SP when I've struggled so much to lose weight, but I have to keep reminding myself that it's just not about me. I have to make sure I check in sometimes for my spark friends too!

Talk to you soon!

Kristen

HI! I just read on someone's blog that you have a comprehension problem. I hope you don't think me as being critical, but I love reading. And feel that if you went to the library and asked them for books you are interested in. I think the easiest book to read would be " The SEVEN PER-CENT SOLUTION," BY Nicholas Meyer. You may have a hard time finding it, cause it's an antique. It's about Sherlock Holmes & Sigmund Frued team up. It starts out where they are running across a train. It is written like a movie. I will send you some of the stories I have written to entice you. I hope you learn to love reading like I do. eva

Happy Thursday! Whatever you have been thinking about doing, but have started yet, turn it into "I Did It" Thursday! It sure feels good to do what you know needs to be done.
