I have to say, 2016 was an interesting year. I started off by getting back on here and really making it work for me. I made some wonderful friends along the way and I am so happy for that. The friends I have made on here is what has kept me going and helped me reach one of my two goals last year. I didn't get to run my marathon due to my knee injury but I did lose my 15 pounds. But, the last week of the year I gained back 3 of those pounds. So hard to lose weight and maintain that during the holidays! But, I still feel like I did well.

This year I have started off okay but with a little bump in the road. I have what is known as Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is not very common and somewhat rare, so this is why most who are reading this have not heard of it. In a nutshell, it causes intense facial pain with doing such minor and everyday things like brushing ones teeth, eating, swallowing or just touching that side of my face. Even walking can hurt it because of the vibration that travels up. A person who does not have it never realizes that occurs, the vibration. But if you have pain from it, you realize it. So that has kept me from doing my usual exercising. When walking I walk softly to not irritate it. I am on medication to help control it but that is becoming increasing useless.

My goals still this year are to run the marathon and lose 15 pounds. If I lose this 15 I will have gotten to my ultimate goal. Then it will be work to stay there. I hope by mid year I can start training again, but, we will see.

Thanks to my Spark friends, I met one goal last year and I hope to again this year. I think 2017 will be my year!! I have hope that it will.

Goal 1: Lose 15 pounds by the end of the year.

Goal 2: Run Hartford Marathon in October again


My Program:
Cardio: Running 5 times a week making increases to meet goals to run a marathon.

Eating: Min 8 glasses of water a day, making sure I have minimum of 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day.

    Deb - thank you so much for visiting my blog - especially when you aren't well. I have to say that only I - the vaguest person you know - could fail to notice that my scales weren't working!. Thank goodness for the nurse's scales - HAVE to trust those!! This loss is over some months - I imagine - and so not as startling as it seems. It's great tho and I can't fail to be delighted - however stupid I feel.
    I really hope your doctor may be able to sort you out in time for Christmas - such a busy time and none of us needs any added difficulty.
    Am thinking of you and wishing you the best the Doc can do for you - SOON.

    Unfortunately the insurance he gets at work isn't all that great...don't even get Chiropractic or Physical Therapy coverage! Glad your knee is better....that laser sure has helped my foot! She scans the wand all the way up my calf too! She is the best Dr.! We have known each other 8 years and she told me the other day, she considers me a friend. We help each other with weight loss tips too! She gave me the name of a good website from Dr. Mercola...and she has met him. It is a fantastic site full of great health info and latest news on it. I hope by our vacation in Jan. I will be good to go on longer walks. Sure is frustrating, right, when you are not at your full capacity to exercise! emoticon
