I have to say, 2016 was an interesting year. I started off by getting back on here and really making it work for me. I made some wonderful friends along the way and I am so happy for that. The friends I have made on here is what has kept me going and helped me reach one of my two goals last year. I didn't get to run my marathon due to my knee injury but I did lose my 15 pounds. But, the last week of the year I gained back 3 of those pounds. So hard to lose weight and maintain that during the holidays! But, I still feel like I did well.

This year I have started off okay but with a little bump in the road. I have what is known as Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is not very common and somewhat rare, so this is why most who are reading this have not heard of it. In a nutshell, it causes intense facial pain with doing such minor and everyday things like brushing ones teeth, eating, swallowing or just touching that side of my face. Even walking can hurt it because of the vibration that travels up. A person who does not have it never realizes that occurs, the vibration. But if you have pain from it, you realize it. So that has kept me from doing my usual exercising. When walking I walk softly to not irritate it. I am on medication to help control it but that is becoming increasing useless.

My goals still this year are to run the marathon and lose 15 pounds. If I lose this 15 I will have gotten to my ultimate goal. Then it will be work to stay there. I hope by mid year I can start training again, but, we will see.

Thanks to my Spark friends, I met one goal last year and I hope to again this year. I think 2017 will be my year!! I have hope that it will.

Goal 1: Lose 15 pounds by the end of the year.

Goal 2: Run Hartford Marathon in October again


My Program:
Cardio: Running 5 times a week making increases to meet goals to run a marathon.

Eating: Min 8 glasses of water a day, making sure I have minimum of 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day.

    Hey Debra - thank you so much for dropping by - you are one the people that keep me going here and am so happy that you're my friend.Very glad to hear you're doing reasonably well for the moment and hope you get your extra test and the procedure soon. Certainly wish for you that life improves by early Spring - it's long enough now for you to keep bearing all that pain. I'm reasonably OK though I have bad ulcers on my tongue - nothing in itself but makes talking and swallowing painful - good for saving calories but wouldn't wish it on anyone as a weight loss aid!! My partner has been ill for some time with a really horrid bug that is doing the rounds and was in hospital briefly with breathing problems. He is now being tested for angina and is on beta blockers as an interrim measure. Nothing definitive yet but he's certainly feeling much better which is a relief. So - not a lot of fun here but am hoping Spring will see an improvement for us. Bit of a tale of woe - sorry.

    Thank you for your kind compliment about me being inspiring! That is why I have kept up with SP for so long, paying it forward and hoping I can help others to achieve what I have. I felt hopeless until I joined SP and found such a great bunch of people on here, each with their own survival or inspiring stories! I sure hope your procedures do you some good and all will be well and full speed ahead! I am really hoping that myself with my thyroid test this week. Getting the biopsy done first.
