Running it off (I wish)

Hi! My name is Dee! I am 51 years old and live in Coalgate, OK. A very small rural town. I work as a Loan Assistant for a bank in Atoka, where I spend my days sitting behind a desk, working on a computer. Can you say "Secretarial Spread"?

I have two kids, both grown and 1 grandson, my husband is self employed, and has lost 150 pounds!

Since being a member here, I have lost, gained and lost again the same 8 pounds, I have cut 4 minutes off my 5k time, and have learned to eat healthier.

I ran my first Half-Marathon for May 15, 2010 in 2:31:17 and my first Marathon on May 1, 2011 in 5:42:22!! since then I have ran another marathon, several halfs and many many 10ks! I am now officially addicted!

I have come a long way baby!!

If you run hills, you'll be fine. The course stays off the really steep stuff.

Good luck on your mountain run!

I couldn't find a course map for the full Nike marathon, just the half. The first part of the race is similar to the SF marathon course in July, although for that one we ran across the Golden Gate bridge and through Golden Gate park. It is hilly but you don't run on any of the really steep hills found in the center of town. The steepest hill (perception) was the approach to the Golden Gate bridge. You will be running along there. Then the park is a gradual incline, not as noticeable but much longer, so if you aren't used to running on inclines, it could get to you. As far as hills go, this was not nearly as bad as Big Sur, where you have really steep hills. It is a lot of up and down but not necessarily terribly steep. And there are some nice down hill sections. Are you used to running on hills at all?
