Hello, I'm Dee and I need to lose weight. (Jeez, that sounds like the intro you'd give in a 12-step group! Which is probably not inappropriate.) I live in Southern California, I'm 66 as of January 2013, I'm a Mom and Grandmom, I'm on disability due to a stroke, I take a bunch of prescriptions to control my hypertension, and I belatedly decided I need to get healthy, which is why I'm here.

Thought for the Day:

For last year's words belong to last year's language. And next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning. ~ T.S. Eliot

- Start from wherever you are now; don't worry about the past because you can't change it anyway.

- En boca cerrada, no entran moscas. ( Semi-literal translation: In a closed mouth no flies can enter. In my own words, aimed mostly at myself, if you keep silent you won't get yourself into so much trouble. Also: If you keep your mouth shut you can't put food into it.)

For me, I think July was just a pile up of events/stress. It started with July 4th and DH's birthday that weekend. Then we had family in the week after. Then we were working on our house and things were torn apart. Then it was our anniversary. Then we were still working on the house and trying to get things finished up for the first flooring project to be installed. Now we have only a few days before some carpet is being installed and somehow need to clean out those spaces and get some painting done. I know that we can do it, I just have to stop procrastinating and make better choices not just on the food front but also in time spent. I'm craving a down day though where I just lay around and eat all my favorite foods and watch movies all day. I guess I just need to figure out a different way to decompress this month since that won't further my journey to my goal. Anyhow... all that to say, I hope that August is a better month for both of us!

Thank you so much the the kind words on my blog. I "never" expected my simple story would touch so many people. What a wonderful reminder that Spark is not just an Internet group, but also a community of friends.

Thanks for the comment on my sp.

I haven't used my barefoot shoes lately as we keep getting snowstorms. It is warming up and the snow is starting to melt so maybe by next week I can start wearing them more.
