Saying "Yes!" to Life!

Hi! I'm Lisa, a 45-year-old working mom of two boys, ages 8 and 10. I am becoming the person who says "YES!" to life. I want to be active and engaged and energetic. I want to embrace every day, knowing that this is the only life I'm going to get.

I have somewhere between 40 and 50 pounds to lose. But more importantly, I want to be healthy and active. I want to be in good shape to take care of my family.

My husband has been living with cancer for the last 9 ...

I have somewhere between 40 and 50 pounds to lose. But more importantly, I want to be healthy and active. I want to be in good shape to take care of my family.

My husband has been living with cancer for the last 9 years, and it's changed a couple of things for me. First, I feel responsible for making sure I am in good shape to take care of my family, physically and emotionally. I'm aware that our family circumstances could change for the worse, and I want to be prepared. Second, I've really gotten clear that it's time to stop waiting and start living. This is it! I'm halfway through my life, and I get to decide who I am for the second half.

I look forward to meeting some of you virtually, and mutually supporting each other on this journey.

My Goals:
Long Term: Be in the 140s by May 2014.

Mid Term: Wear a bathing suit in Hawaii in December. Be in the 160s by Dec.

Short Term: The next pound! Run 5k without stopping by the end of September.

My Program:
* Eat 5 fruits and veggies each day.
* Stay within my calorie range.
* Work out at least 10 minutes every day.
* Stick with the 5k training plan from RunKeeper. Strength and walk on non-training days.
* Keep my commitments to myself.
