'We are like angels with only one wing. We can only fly by embracing one another.'

Hi. I'm Diana from Cambridge, England. I'm a work-from-home Mom of 4 grown 'kids' and a Dyslexia Consultant when I'm wearing my professional hat. I thought I would be more active and eat less when my children left home. Oh, how the reverse has been true!

I'm here to reclaim some of my life and a lot more of my waistline...

Thanks for the blog comment! Unfortunately, I've tried the moderate thing a lot and it never works for me. I want it to work very badly, but for me it's always a mental thing - I have to put up boundaries and "No Trespassing" signs to have success.

I love tulips, too. There's a town near where we live - Pella, Iowa that is dedicated to tulips. Awesome to go when they're in bloom.

Yes! COME SPRING, COME!!!!

Yes, Groundhog's Day sounds similar to St. Swithins Day. It's always on February 2, and started in 1887. The groundhog's name is Punxsutawney Phil Sowerby (the town is Punxsutawney...my sister lived there for a bit). If he sees his shadow, it's six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't, it's supposed to mean an early spring. (Other towns have joined in the fun with their own groundhogs by different names.) It has turned into a big party/outdoor celebration, usually on a freezing cold day. People camp out the night before, and the groundhog is presented at sunrise. People have lots of fun, wear silly hats, dance, etc., and it's a good tourism event for a rural area of Pennsylvania. Any excuse for a party!
