Aloha ~ I'm DJ ... a happily retired 63 year old committing to living a healthy lifestyle from now on.

I've been on most every diet out there the past few decades ... losing lots and lots of weight ... and regaining weight because I could not 'stay' on those diets endlessly. The last 3 years I've ditched the 'dieting' and have been pursuing 'eating healthy'. For me, this means following vegetarian and, more recently, vegan plans. I'm currently (as of this update) adding back some meats and fish (grass-fed, hormone-free beef and sashimi and ahi) and some eggs from time to time. I'll see how these additions impact my health issues...or not.

I am somewhat limited recently for exercising with knee and joint pain so slowly building up my exercise options with Tai Chi, Yoga, chair exercises and other limited mobility workouts. When I'm feeling up to par I also do lots of gardening and yard work which I love.

My Program:
Starch-based, plant-based, whole foods as much as possible...potatoes, rice, lots of veggies and variety, fruits, whole grains, beans, seeds and nuts ...low on fats, oils, added sugars. REAL food ... not packaged. IF I'm buying packaged foods from time to time I read the ingredient list FIRST ... then the nutrition label ... there's nothing nutritious about a lot of added chemicals being in our foods - ha!
