I've experienced some of the same things many other people here have. Overweight, decades of dieting, being successful, regaining...over and over...eventually achieving a higher and higher weight in the end, the exact opposite/outcome I was shooting for.

I ended up weighing more than I ever dreamed (223 lbs.) and was slowly destroying my health as well. In 2013 a diagnosis of severe hypertension among other health conditions motivated me. I decided I HAD to change - once and for all ... to live.

The past 3 years I have been trying to turn things around ... to eat healthy with a diet based in whole foods and plant based transitioning off of packaged/processed foods, etc. Consistent exercise, admittedly, has been harder for me to embrace.

I have had many successes with the above change in diet ... great improvement in many areas of my health reversing and/or eliminating most of my health issues. I lost a solid 28 lbs. I never plan to see again but after that I have lost/re-gained the same 10-15 lbs. for the past year. Mostly due to going 'off plan' ... over and over. And little to no exercise.

Now I find myself back saying 'this' HAS to now change - once and for all ... to live. I want to commit to eating what is healthy - no going 'off plan' - and TO EXERCISE. I'm retired and want to enjoy a better outcome/better future for what is left ... I do not want to give up/give in ... I want to thrive ... be fully alive ... once and for all!

    Grilled cheese is yummy...and cheap! I never ate a grilled cheese sandwich until I grew up and had my own household. My mother used to put a slice of cheese on a slice of bread and put it under the broiler for a small amount of time. Healthier! A good use for a toaster oven, but my kitchen is so small, I only have room for a microwave--a toaster oven would be too much.
