With the ups and downs of life, comes the ups and downs of weight loss. The important thing is to stay positive and never give up.

My goal this year is to use Pilates to strengthen my core and correct some imbalances that contribute to pain. In addition my cardio will be Zumba fitness, it's always fun! Plus some weight training to keep those calories burning.

For meals I am going to focus on more healthy clean-eating meals and more meatless meals. When incorporating clean eating I was never feeling hungry or craved sugar. But will enjoy treats in moderation. Most importantly, I would like to see my cholesterol levels go down by using food as a tool more than I did last year.

I am excited to be here with my friend MaryJo and newest member Maria. I look forward to cheering each other on to reach our goals to be healthy, fit, women.


In 2004 I made it a committment to myself to exercise one hour a day and work on my eating habits. I was ready to improve my health and wanted to be a role model for my family and friends. With consistency and persistance, I lost 40 pounds. In 2005 my story was chosen for a magazine and they featured me on the cover.

I then set my goals even higher and participated in 5 fitness shows. After the last show, my Mom was diagnosed with cancer, 4 weeks later she was gone. It was a difficult year, and during that time, some of the weight slowly returned.

This year I am ready to focus on some more fitness goals. My long-term is to stay healthy with nutrition and exercise. My short-term goals is to run a 5k in March. My small goals will be drinking more water, tracking my food, and being cosistent with my exercise.

I have learned to stop focusing on the scale. Instead to set big and small goals, surround myself with others who have similar goals, and take it one day at a time. Spark has it all right here, articles, support, motivation, nutrition, meal idea, strength workouts etc. Best of all, I will be continuing my journey with my best friend, who lives in another state, by communicating through our spark page.

Turned 50 this year. New goal to be healthy and fit and see my son graduate.

    Thanks for your sweet comment on my page. The tools here work when used! I've been below my goal for almost 6 weeks now. This is my first success at maintenance, and it's working because I'm continuing to use the trackers. You can reach your goal and maintain it, too!

    Wow, those photos are amazing. Thank you for taking time to read and comment on my "this is...." blog. I did my 53 push-ups today, after strength training so I needed a bit more rest but I finished them within the 2 minutes so I was happy. emoticon
