Welcome to my page.

I'm trying to lose weight and get into shape, but it has been a journey! I started on May 1, 2010, and since then have found some pelvic issues (related to my hysterectomy) that prevented serious exercise for a few months but are now under control, and I've also dealt with several hormonal and health issues (low estrogen, low vitamins B & D, low thyroid -- geez, do I have anything in me except fat?!).

While I've lost nearly 30 pounds, it's a SLOW 30 pounds, less than a pound lost per month. :( It's a big change from the last time I lost 30 pounds in about 5 months -- with far, far less effort (and I had kept most of those 30 pounds off up until Nov., 2009).

I originally described myself as a veritable couch potato, but I can now say that I'm becoming a gym rat! My husband and I joined a gym in October, 2012. I'm lifting weights three times a week, doing core classes twice a week, cycling classes twice a week, another yoga or body sculpting class each week, and at least 2 other cardio workouts each week. I also run outside and enjoy riding my road bicycle with my husband, son, and son-in-law.

There's probably nothing earth shattering (or even remotely interesting) for most people to read, but keeping up with the Spark website keeps my hands busy (and therefore not snacking!), and it's a great place to have a plethora of data points telling me that I'm on track (or not). I kinda need that big brother giving me non-judgmental feedback.

My Goals:
I'd like to feel better about myself. I'd like to lose weight and look better; lose weight to feel like I can be more active; and exercise to feel better.

My Program:
Small, incremental changes to ensure that this is a lifestyle change. Adding a little exercise and slowly reining in the food tends to work for me. I've already lost 30 pounds and kept it off for 5 years, and now I want to tackle the next 30.

Hi Della: I read your post on the Panic Button forum. I went there looking for help for the same problem, however, my problem has only been a few (5) weeks. We are the same age and height. I currently weigh 147 and lost 7 pounds the first two weeks I started SP 7 weeks ago and nothing since. Also, no inches lost at all.

I will be following your progress and see if what you find out will help me. I saw mention on the forum about asking your doctor to do a BMR test. I didn't even know that was possible. So I am going to ask for that too.

Good luck to you. You are under a lot of stress, I hope you are able to have some relaxing time too!

Take care,
Debbie

Hi DMartin302! Saw your note on the panic button forum.
First of all, good for you for staying consistent through this very discouraging time!! The drugs do alter the way the body works, so don't feel like you have failed. It sounds like you have been doing a great job!! Rather, the rules of the game have changed, and I guess you are going through the trial and error process of figuring out what the new rules are. I don't have experience with this issue, mainly just wanted to offer encouragement. I hope the meds adjustment will help you. Even if you are not losing the weight you desire, at least you know you are feeding yourself good things and have a good strong body from exercise! Good luck,
White_Elephant aka Elly
