Spinning My Wheels long enough

This is the third time I am updating my story. It pretty much reads the same except we are all older and maybe a little smarter. I have been off site for over 250 days and today, November 17,2011, I hope I am done futsing around and am here for permanent change. I have been on sparkpeople for 4 1/2 years now. I have been off site for over 250 days and today, November 17,2011, I hope I am done futsing around and am here for permanent change. I have been on sparkpeople for 4 1/2 years now. I still live on the Big Island of Hawaii. And still love swimming and doing healthy things with the kids. I still work in a long term care facility and am now the assistant director of nurses. I have four kids spread out 21 years apart. My youngest is in high school, my oldest in his mid 30's. Pretty much the only change I see is the kids are growing uo too fast for me. I weigh about the same as I did 4 1/2 years ago. I really want to maintain a healthy lifestyle for myself. I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and my 14-year-old with a cholesterol problem. Something is wrong with the diet I have been putting out for my family. I can't ignore that any more. I have to get over the idea that weight loss and healthy eating is just what you do after an eating spree. Sure the eating spree felt good at the time, but the consequences of that are not fun. I have missed the tracking and the acountability that I had here at SP. My health and the health of my family depends on me to make better choices in shopping and meal planning.

My Goals:
Long term: reach my healthy weight of 135-140 in 1 year.
Shorter goal: lose 20 pounds by April 30.
short term:1. maintain current weight through New Year's Day
2.Begin losing 1.5 pounds per week after 1st of the year

My Program:
I will track my food daily.
I will exercise for at least 10 minutes three times per week through the holidays
I will increase exercise to 15 minutes at least 4 times per week starting January 2, 2013.

Personal Information:
I have 4 children with a 21 year age span. They all have the same dad. I have been married to the same man for more than 35 years and would do it again tomorrow. I was a chef for 20 years and in 2005 I graduated from nursing school with a bachelor's degree and honors at age 53. I did not have a weight problem until puberty. I hope now that I have had a hysterectomy my hormones will settle down once and for all and weight loss will follow.

Other Information:
I love true to life dramas and romances. "A Walk in the Clouds" starring Keanu Reeves is my favortie movie.
