I think this pretty much sums up where I am at right now. I've made tremendous changes since joining Spark, but I still have a ways to go. I'm comforted in knowing that there is a community of people that I can talk with who have either gone through it, are in the trenches, or beginning their journey. I have received assistance from many, and appreciate it.

I never thought that at this point in my life, my biggest joy would be training for a 1/2 marathon (completed). I've gone from struggling to complete 1 mile on a track, to walking more than 4 miles daily on the treadmill. Working out has become part of my daily lifestyle.

I am growing and developing into the person I was destined to be one day at a time.

8/28/12 Update: I'm so excited that my youngest daughter is now an active member of SparkPeople! I have only been shouting it's praises for 4 years now. So, to top it off, she is training for the Tough Mudder in June 2013. I have agreed to participate with her, but I must build upper body strength in order to qualify to be of benefit to anyone on the team. Wish us luck as we move forward in our health quest.

10/20/14 Update: I've recommitted myself to loosing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have put on some pounds last year with illness and not being as mobile as I once was. I have kept the majority of my weight off, and I'm celebrating 6 years of maintaining my 100+ weight loss. I have decided that I will once again participate in a half marathon to challenge myself.

My goal is to be as active as I possibly can by participating in 5k and 10k competitions, as well as increasing my swimming endurance and speed on my bike. I have become quite a rider this summer, clocking in more than 40 miles weekly.

The one thing that I have learned, is that you have to stay active by doing new and challenging things. As for me, if I have no goal I'm trying to obtain, I have no motivation. So I needed to put them down to make them concrete in my mind.

My Current goals as of October 2015:

1. Walk 10,000 steps 5 days per week.

2. Lose 8 pounds by October 31.

3. Reduce/eliminate drinking Pepsi daily.

4. Get a passpost!

5. Register for Masters Program by January 2016.

6.Post journal entry at least once per week on Spark, and post at least 3 times per week on FB with the appropriate hashtag.


My Program:
Walk during my lunch during the week - weather permitting.

Go to the gym at least 3 times per week minimum.



Personal Information:
I love Winnie the Pooh, the Disney Character Princess Tiana, the color Yellow, and Comedy.

I enjoy bike riding and walking along the Riverfront in downtown Detroit. If its a weekend, and not raining, tha's where I'm at!
