DREAM IT*DO IT! LIVE, LOVE & LAUGH...
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. I breathed a song into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song? Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke; And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend. H. W. Longfellow The Will To Win (one the most classic motivational poems) If you want a thing bad enough To go out and fight for it, Work day and night for it, Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it If only desire of it Makes you quite mad enough Never to tire of it, Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it If life seems all empty and useless without it And all that you scheme and you dream is about it, If gladly you'll sweat for it, Fret for it, Plan for it, Lose all your terror of God or man for it, If you'll simply go after that thing that you want. With all your capacity, Strength and sagacity, Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity, If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt, Nor sickness nor pain Of body or brain Can turn you away from the thing that you want, If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it, You'll get it! -- Berton Braley To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift." - Steve Prefontaine Over 60 and staying fit is fun! Don't give in to emotional eating and don't give up working on YOU! By taking care of yourself...your body and emotional health, you make everyone around you happier and more calm. I find that age is just a number and not indicative of what you look like or what you accomplish. LIFE IS GOOD! I prefer finding a balance with exercise by doing cardio at least 5 days a week and weight training at least 4 times a week. More if I can work it in. My body and soul feel well when I do this. "Motivation is a skill. It can be learned and practiced" My husband, Art, and I ballroom and swing dance three days a week. He and I have been married 43 and we still love being active together. He is very fit being a retired athletic coach for almost 40 years. It always helps to have a willing partner in good nutrition and exercise. I have been getting on the elliptical for 30-45 min. and treadmill for 30 at least four days a wk. (I usually strive for 6 days). At 61, that really is helping me to get the curves in place! Yeah. It also boosts my determination and gives me a sense of well-being. Eating a balanced diet and limiting my carbs to under 60 and 1200-1500 calories a day makes me lose the weight. I eat under 2000 to maintain. I'm 5'5" tall. Everyone is different, of course, so once you find what works for you, stay with it and be happy....I've found that balance is the key to everything you do. Good luck to all of you who are struggling to get healthy again. Come on....get going. It's a beautiful world!!!!!! "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself. -- Nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” Franklin D. Roosevelt Be who you are and say what you feel, Because those who matter don't mind. and those who mind don't matter by Dr. Seuss ************************************** SOMETIMES THE HARDEST THING TO KNOW IN LIFE IS "WHICH BRIDGES TO CROSS AND WHICH ONES TO BURN"!

My Goals:
My goal is to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can!!! My parents are 85 and 86 and will need me to be strong and healthy to take care of them. My little granddaughter is 12 and, God willing, I want to be around to see her graduate from college and be happy in adulthood.
My Program:
&Exercising on the elliptical and treadmill at least five days a week and ballroom swing dancing two or three times per week seems to help a lot in keeping me fit. I also love bicyling and do a couple of 50 mile rides a year. Otherwise we usually ride 10-20 often. Hang gliding is a blast and do that when I can get to the mountains. Gardening is also good. An hour a day in the garden gives me inspiration and great joy.
Other Information:
I have had a full, happy life for these years. Lived in a small town all of my adolescence and enjoyed the coziness of it. I am very close to my family and have one younger brother. I enjoyed being a cheerleader, taking piano, baton, & dance lessons doing all the "girlie" things, but I was also a tomboy and I still love to climb trees, hang glide and ride motorcycles. Married young, went to Europe and lived in Germany for three of our earliest years. Had my daughter in Munich and got pregnant in Paris, France with my son. Traveled the world and then settled back in my little home town to raise my family on 14 acres. SWEET! I am 5'5" tall and made fitness a lifestyle from early on. My life has been relatively a fairytale with lots of spicey things thrown in for good measure. I once ran three businesses at once while my children were young. I LOVE LIFE & LOVE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS. I am the ETERNAL OPTIMIST & love it that way!
