“Kiss yesterday goodbye....give today a great big embrace!"
"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dream. Wandering by lone sea breakers, and sitting by desolate streams. World losers and world forsakers, for whom the pale moon gleams. Yet we are movers and the shakers of the world forever it seems." -Arthur O'Shaunessey Poem by Audrey Hepburn For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. Yet we are movers and the shakers of the world forever it seems." -Arthur O'Shaunessey Poem by Audrey Hepburn For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others. "Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold." "Yes, I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can find his way by moonlight, and see the dawn before the rest of the world." -- Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)" It's always darkest before the dawn when your world is weary, when all is dark, when dreams die and fade away, and all of life is stark, take heart in gentle love, for she waits in the wings, and where she walks, fairies dance and angels sing, though you cannot see her, she weaves a silken touch, leaving footprints in the sand, sprinkling spells and such, lighting the dampened corridors, the dark corners of your mind, leaving you breathless, bewildered by her kind, goodness glints in her eyes, hope is in her arms, and all you've ever dreamed of, rests sweetly in her charms. Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman The Will To Win (one the most classic motivational poems) If you want a thing bad enough To go out and fight for it, Work day and night for it, Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it If only desire of it Makes you quite mad enough Never to tire of it, Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it If life seems all empty and useless without it And all that you scheme and you dream is about it, If gladly you'll sweat for it, Fret for it, Plan for it, Lose all your terror of God or man for it, If you'll simply go after that thing that you want. With all your capacity, Strength and sagacity, Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity, If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt, Nor sickness nor pain Of body or brain Can turn you away from the thing that you want, If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it, You'll get it! -- Berton Braley To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift." - Steve Prefontaine My name is Mary Ann. I'm 63 and think that staying fit is fun! Don't give in to emotional eating and don't give up working on YOU! By taking care of yourself...your body and emotional health, you make everyone around you happier and more calm. I find that age is just a number and not indicative of what you look like or what you accomplish. LIFE IS GOOD! I prefer finding a balance with exercise by doing cardio at least 5 days a week and weight training at least 4 times a week. More if I can work it in. My body and soul feel well when I do this. "Motivation is a skill. It can be learned and practiced" My husband, Art, and I ballroom and swing dance three days a week. He and I have been married 45 years on June 29th and we still love being active together. He is very fit being a retired athletic coach for almost 40 years. They recently named the high school gymnasium after him! It always helps to have a willing partner in good nutrition and exercise. I have been getting on the elliptical for 30-45 min. and treadmill for 30 at least four days a wk. (I usually strive for 6 days). That really is helping me to get the curves in place! Yeah. It also boosts my determination and gives me a sense of well-being. Eating a balanced diet and limiting my carbs to under 60 and 1200-1500 calories a day makes me lose the weight. I eat under 2000 to maintain. I'm 5'5" tall. Everyone is different, of course, so once you find what works for you, stay with it and be happy....I've found that balance is the key to everything you do. Good luck to all of you who are struggling to get healthy again. Come on....get going. It's a beautiful world!!!!!! "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself. -- Nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” Franklin D. Roosevelt Be who you are and say what you feel, Because those who matter don't mind. and those who mind don't matter by Dr. Seuss ************************************** SOMETIMES THE HARDEST THING TO KNOW IN LIFE IS "WHICH BRIDGES TO CROSS AND WHICH ONES TO BURN"!

My Goals:
My goal is to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can!!! My parents are 87 and 88 and will need me to be strong and healthy to take care of them. My beautiful, talented granddaughter is 14 and, God willing, I want to be around to see her graduate from college and be happy in adulthood.
My Program:
&Exercising on the elliptical and treadmill at least five days a week and ballroom swing dancing two or three times per week seems to help a lot in keeping me fit. I also love bicyling and do a couple of 50 mile rides a year. Otherwise we usually ride 10-20 often. Hang gliding is a blast and do that when I can get to the mountains. Gardening is also good. An hour a day in the garden gives me inspiration and great joy.
