I'm a vegetarian who can't cook well. I'm trying to learn how to cook, eat a healthy diet, eat less chocolate and lose weight. I'm here to find cooking ideas. I have been following Eat to Live book by Joel Furhman.

I'm finding out that when I eat mostly fruits and veggies I lose weight (I've lost over 15 pounds) and when I start eating the junk the weight comes back (hey doesn't that makes sense). And here is the best part, I'm never hungry.

I exercise 40 minutes on my elliptical, and I have been doing P90X three times a week (finished P90X and will start again sometime). I also do some exercise DVDs, lift weights and other exercise. I always need ideas for other exercise ideas.

My Goals:
Losing weight by eating healthy foods. Learning to cook will help.

I have been following the Eat To Live plan.

Eating lots of fruits and veggies and some beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds.


My Program:
Exercise 20 minutes a day on the elliptical and 20-30 minutes with DVD cadio exercises. I also lift weights with exercise DVD's and other exercise.



Personal Information:
I have been teaching kids to play the piano for 20 years. I like playing piano and guitar. I like to listen to rock, movie music, classical and jazz.
Scifi and action adventure movies are my favorite movies to go see.
Reading books is very fun and exiciting. It's takes me away from it all. I like scifi, action adventure and fantasy books the best.


Other Information:
I have been a vegetarian for 20 years. I live in Kansas.

    I just read your words about beets. I've been wondering how to incorporate them, because I truly just don't like the taste. Do you think I could roast them, peel and add one or two to a smoothie?? I just don't want to ruin a smoothie with them if you don't think it would work. I look forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

    Thank you for reaching out to me several days ago. It's been a whirlwind!! Between the stuff at work and my daughter's illnesses, it's rather hectic. However, she approached me yesterday and asked if I'd help her with her own weight loss (She's 17 and has gained about 60 pounds from some meds she has been on. They took her off of those meds a couple weeks ago and she now wants to lose some of the weight.). I was beyond excited and I'm thrilled be able to do this with her. Hopefully, it will help with some of her other issues, as well.

    I'm actually doing "OK". Not great, but not bad, either. I'm looking forward to tomorrow for a new month, new season and new time of regeneration and new beginnings.

    How are things in your neck of the Midwest?
