For Myself

I need to take care of myself for myself, but I know that it impacts my three daughters.
I've worked in professional kitchens since the early 1970's. Food is a major part of my life. Being a woman in a male dominated field was a struggle back when I started. Being an older woman in a physically demanding industry is a struggle too. I enjoy the struggle. I enjoy the long hours, the heat, the noise. The food.
In my early 50's my metabolism started to slow down. Whoops.

Other Information:
The year that I turned 50 I went on my first hike. My husband is a big hiker, and I wanted something else to share with him. Since then I've been hiking to celebrate all our 'milestones' - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. Living in up state NY, we do a lot of Adirondack hikes, but we also hike in the Shawangunks and the White Mountains of NH.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Nut pudding is made with milk, gelatin, sugar and eggs that is cooked into a custard and you add walnuts. Old family recipe.

Howdy! Yes, sadly, this gym only offers the PiYo class on Monday nights at 7:30 (kinda discouraging!) but I think the instructor said she's trying to get the 10 am slot on Saturdays. Since I typically hit the treadmill 5-6 days a week and do strength training 3 days a week, PiYo is helping to break it up a bit. I'd LOVE to do THAT class daily! emoticon
We currently live in Kentucky, and we're in the country. I've got 2.4 acres here that I work on (cutting brush back, cutting tree limbs etc) and walk the dog daily, and then there's 15 acres behind us that's undeveloped, so when the weeds die down (and there's 3' snow!) we do some hiking (I pretend we're pioneers or Indians - yes, I'm still a child! LOL) If it weren't for ticks, I'd be way out back in the summer, too! Actually, I did go way out back early this summer and came face to face with a WOLF. Whew! That's a story for another day.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! emoticon

Good morning. Hope you are enjoying your hike. When I lived in Ithaca, I found the winter there very beautiful to enjoy as well. With the leaves all down, the landscape was a sight to enjoy. LOL, I felt like I was hiking this past week, when I was walking in snow....a much harder walk for sure, kinda like walking on sand. You must be a very skillful hiker to be able to safely manage wet slippery paths.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comments. Wishing you a terrific, healthy and fit day!

Thanks for sparking by! I love "inventing" meals - my inventions are my best meals! LOL Back in 2007, when I was on SP strong, I had started working on granola bars, but when I left SP those inventions stopped. Now that I'm back on SP I'm back into my granola inventions! Even my daughter who "hates" coconut, LOVE my chocolate chip granola bar (am still tweaking that one, too!)
Keep on hiking - looks like that's a SUPER great activity for you and hubby
