For Myself

I need to take care of myself for myself, but I know that it impacts my three daughters.
I've worked in professional kitchens since the early 1970's. Food is a major part of my life. Being a woman in a male dominated field was a struggle back when I started. Being an older woman in a physically demanding industry is a struggle too. I enjoy the struggle. I enjoy the long hours, the heat, the noise. The food.
In my early 50's my metabolism started to slow down. Whoops.

Other Information:
The year that I turned 50 I went on my first hike. My husband is a big hiker, and I wanted something else to share with him. Since then I've been hiking to celebrate all our 'milestones' - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. Living in up state NY, we do a lot of Adirondack hikes, but we also hike in the Shawangunks and the White Mountains of NH.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. My time off has been great so far. I've found time for everything including seeing friends and family as well as time for myself. I still have some time to squeeze in another movie next week too before I go back to school. I even managed to get the dreaded cleaning done too!!

We are rounding out the marching band season. The kids will be playing at the Big House Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday. This is their last competition of the year. I think there are around 2000 students that will perform together for the halftime show and the invitational is after the game. Too bad Michigan won't be playing ball, my husband is a huge fan.

How are you doing? I hope all is well with you.

Have a great night!!

Hola amiga. Happy Friday eve! Thanks for the comments on my blog. Yes my work is finally paying off ;-) and no I have not signed up for any competitions yet. I did sign up for the membership so I can begin local meets. I'm told they don't begin until December. So until then, I'll continue improving.

Have a great rest of your week(end).

Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by and for your well wishes for Chapter 16. The health and fitness journey continues on, as does life. Glad you are enjoying some time with daughter and granddaughter. II stopped by for a dose of granddaughter yesterday, and it was a highlight in my day, as was my cooking, finally.

Getting out for a walk soon. We had our first frost last night. Glad it didn't touch my rosemary plant....I'd meant to bring it into the house as it can't survive in the ground in the winters here.

Wishing you a relaxing, healthy and fit Sunday!
