For Myself

I need to take care of myself for myself, but I know that it impacts my three daughters.
I've worked in professional kitchens since the early 1970's. Food is a major part of my life. Being a woman in a male dominated field was a struggle back when I started. Being an older woman in a physically demanding industry is a struggle too. I enjoy the struggle. I enjoy the long hours, the heat, the noise. The food.
In my early 50's my metabolism started to slow down. Whoops.

Other Information:
The year that I turned 50 I went on my first hike. My husband is a big hiker, and I wanted something else to share with him. Since then I've been hiking to celebrate all our 'milestones' - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. Living in up state NY, we do a lot of Adirondack hikes, but we also hike in the Shawangunks and the White Mountains of NH.

Hi Ed
Thank you for your comment on my blog. I agree. The best part of winter hiking is the chance to get some awesome photos!

Thank you!!! Yes I love Brian Setzer Orchestra!!! I had his first Christmas album for a long time and this year while shopping I heard some songs from him that I don't have so I thought there must be another album out and I finally got a chance to check and sure enough...it's been out a few years though I've missed out on it! LOL But It was fun to download it today and do my Walk/Jog to it today! I left it on while getting ready too and it's super fun, you can just feel the fun in his stuff!

Thanks for commenting on my blog and for your condolences. It's so nice to know that you care.

It's hard to believe that school will be over soon. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter every day. I can't wait until May!

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for your support. emoticon

Thanks for the compliments! I should clarify...my lateral raises are 20 lbs total (10 lbs in each hand). Not that impressive now, heh? LOL!!! I was worried you thought I meant 20 in each hand. Um, no way...LOL! I would have fallen over!!
