Strength training makes it worth living." From "Younger Next Year" I think I have the exercise part down now. It has been a year since I started focusing on serious exercise and it is now pretty much a habit. One year ago I took my first Spin class at the gym and could barely make it through. Then I took on Weight Lifting class. I am stronger and I can see the difference in my muscles. I have lost 10 lbs in the last year. On one hand that's pretty unbelievable and I can see the difference in my clothes. On the other hand, it seems like I should have done better than that, but I know that I now need to focus on my diet. My new naturalist doctor has told me that even though I have cut carbs and only eat healthy carbs (for the most part), my body chemistry is out of balance and my body is not processing sugar effectively. In addition to that, years of exposure to toxins and chemicals in the air, and in food have caused hormones associated with digestion to become inactive. To correct this condition requires a somewhat drastic change in my diet. Grains have become the enemy as has caffine and I have to say, this new way of eating does not make me happy, but I will try it. I will do it the Spark way, making one or two changes at a time.

My Goals:
Short Term: In the 130's by Feb 1st 120's by April 1 Goal 115 by July 4 Exercise at least 30 min. 5 days per week. Drink 48 oz water at least 5 days per week Stay within calorie range at least 5 days per week
My Program:
1200 - 1500 calories Gym - 5 days/wk -no excuses More water & veggies Whole grains Get more sleep Eat clean, whole food - organic when possible
Personal Information:
In my 50's Family: Just husband and I these days. My daughter is 23 and lives with her boyfriend nearby. My stepson is 27 and lives with his girlfriend. Don't kids get married anymore? We have one annoying cat named Smokey and our lives are pretty quiet but I like it that way! Live in Central NJ and still work - HR Dir for local govt.
