Hi Ellie,
I've been meaning to come by. How are you?? It's always so nice to see you drop by. I see from your status that you folks are still getting the white stuff too. I'm glad I'm down in MA and not farther north for this latest round. GAH! Really hoping it'll be the last this year. We are supposed to break the record Low tonight, BRRRR. The record is 4 degrees F.
I hope you have been well and 2014 is shaping up to be a good year, weather notwithstanding!
emoticon Great to see you!
Melly

Hi Ellie,
I agree with you when it comes to winter. It has been way to cold here. Yesterday it was fifty degrees today it's going to be 3 degrees tonight. We got about 12 inches of snow today.
Yesterday it was fifty degrees here.
Keep up the good work with your exercises minutes.
Take Care Lorraine

Ellie I noticed this morning I had posted my comment to you on my page so I took it off and put on yours! Guess I thought I would answer myself. LOL. Going to class tonight and looking forward to it. Hope you have a good week. Maybe we will both finish that hand quilting when we are 80!

Ellie it hurts my hands to hand appliqué and like you I like instant! Do you turn yours under of leave raw edges? Do you worry about raw edges? I am trying to learn to do the kind where you basically put interfacing on it and iron it on so your edges aren’t raw.

I have been hand quilting my first quilt for 6 years now! LOL. I do have bad arthritis so I can’t hand quilt. Even tying a quilt hurts my hands. I don’t have a machine that is big enough to quilt. I went once and rented a quilting machine to do my own and hated doing it. What I love is the process of making the tops. I like the creativity of it. I can’t afford the custom quilting so I have overall patterns done. They are expensive. I have to budget for their quilting.

I had a custom one done once and it seemed so thin when they were done. Do you do them on a regular machine? I often quilt the baby quilts I make. An overall pattern here runs $100 and custom is around $300-$400! Our quilt guild does a custom raffle quilt every year and I won it one year. It cost about $800 to make with all the fabric and quilting!

My favorite sites are equiler.com and shabbyfabrics.com

Ellie the iron is a good idea. Do you use an appliqué sheet also? I use them all the time. You can layer your appliqué on it before transferring to your main cloth.

I’m headed upstairs to “shop” in my quilt room. I want to look through my project boxes for the next quilt to finish. I have another one that only needs borders. I put a color around my center that I chose in the quilt store. The lighting there showed it to be good but when I got it in another light it looked awful. So I need to take it off and find another color. I have my main border so I just need to find something for the framing border. Maybe that will be my goal today and finding my next project to take on Tuesday.

Would love to see a picture of your quilt when you are through.
