This Time Is Different

For some of middle school and all of high school I've been overweight or just a couple pounds from it. I've never really been comfortable with myself. I can't remember a time I've been in the 130's. I've tried losing weight but have never made more progress than a couple of pounds. My highest point was 152 and all through my first semester of college I was 150. That's when I decided enough was enough. I'm tired of it and I need a lifestyle change. I rowed for all of high school but that didn't ...

That's when I decided enough was enough. I'm tired of it and I need a lifestyle change. I rowed for all of high school but that didn't change my body much. I had a flatter stomach during the seasons but that's about it. I'm pretty good with my eating habits, it's just getting to exercise that's the problem but recently I have found more and more ways to be active and I'm having a good time doing it!

My Program:
Seeing a nutritionist once a month. The main goal is to get more protein in my diet and eat a huge breakfast to boost my metabolism throughout the day. Most of my program is mental as I struggle with BDD and have to learn to lose for the right reason, and also fight anxiety that comes along with exercising. If I can get past those barriers things will be much easier for me.

They say, "You can't give a smile away; it always comes back." The same is true of a kind word or a conversation starter. What goes around, comes around.

emoticon Happy June!
emoticon Been away from SPARK for awhile due to life's busy chores.
In the last three weeks I have:
emoticon gardened, gardened, gardened. the rainy weather made the grass grow so much, I had 8 new rose bushes, annuals and perennials to fool with and weeds, weeds, weeds.
emoticon My Son graduated from high school and ALL the family came in. I did ALL the cooking for a whole week which meant groceries, cooking, cleaning, and starting all over again. Plus, the house needed to be in tip top shape. Have I made you tired yet?
emoticon Training for that marathon was a priority. I kept up with it and the big day is Sunday. 26.2 here I come. emoticon
emoticon SPent the last two weekends up at the cabin. Boy is there snow and no internet. Trying to fit in laundry and household while working during the week makes it hard.
emoticon Now that I have complained....how are you doing? emoticon I hope all has been going great and you are on track with all you goals, dreams, desires, and plans. I hope to go back through your blogs and reward your success. Take Care and thanks for being my friend! emoticon

Every year it seems to me I hear complaints about spring. It is either
"late" or "unusually cold," "abnormally dry" or "fantastically wet,"
for no one is ever willing to admit that there is no such thing as a normal spring.

Well is April is half over and I think over the last 15 days we have had everything from 70 degrees sunshine to 2 inches of snow on the ground. Yesterday was so blustery, I felt I was in the Hundred Acre Wood with hufflelumps and woozles.

So dear friends in honor of April, I present to you the following quotes:

April showers bring May flowers.

April is half March, half May.

April weather: rain and sunshine both together.

April weather is more capricious than winter.

April weather likes to repeat the April Fool's Day.

April showers bring Spring flowers.

Don't ever bet on April weather.

April wet, good wheat.

A cold April brings us bread and wine.

emoticon Remember that is WINE not WHINE...which I appear to be doing.HaHa.

emoticon Hope you have a happy, healthy, joyous week. Keep me posted on your successes...except the number of SPARK points you get. How come so many of my friends are so lucky? Love you all and may you gain strength and lose pounds! emoticon emoticon

emoticon emoticon Okay so I am high from a wonderful week. WHY?
1. I completed a lot of pending things at work.
2. It was spring break here and even though we work all year, I took some time off to garden.
3. My yard looks fantastic and now I am just waiting to plant things. I can start the hearty crops mid May but nothing I don't want to die before June 6. We get hail really bad in May.
4. I ran the fastest time trial 5k in 28:00 flat and then finished the run off with another 3.5 miles. Getting stronger with every run makes me high.
5. I have time for myself to just relax, read, and catch up on SPARK.

Mike Kramer, a Spark contributor, wrote a wonderful article called "Top 10 Strategies for Success". Short and to the point. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motiva
tion_articles.asp?id=518

With that in mind, I hope you have been able to do at least 3 of those steps consistently. The three I was able to keep in the forefront this week were trusting my plan, never stop learning, and having fun.
emoticon

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Keep on blogging, it is the best way to stay in touch with you, and remember to make time for yourself!
