I started SparkPeople seriously in December of 2008 weighing the highest I ever weighed. I joined a few teams and set goals. I tracked my food faithfully each day, and the lbs. started coming off. I even overdid the eating a few times but still lost weight. I WAS SO EXCITED! I could not believe this was happening. I had a zillion diet books home, but they were too restricting and difficult to follow. In a few months I had lost 16 lbs. eating REGULAR food. I also made some wonderful friends on the teams I joined. My friends gave me motivation, enthusiasm, and pushed me on when I was stuck. I had not started exercising yet. But my team was not going to let me get away with that. One of the leaders kept trying to get me to walk. I resisted or only did it halfheartedly. Then I found the Leslie Sansone DVDs Walk Away The Pounds and I was hooked. I was down 20 lbs. My clothes looked great on me, I was able to get off of one of my blood pressure medications, and I had 8 lbs to go to goal!

Then I somehow lost my motivation and a few lbs. slowly crept back on. Then I purchased the SPAT and find myself walking 6,000 just about every day! I am thrilled because this has now become a habit. I still have 11 lbs. to lose to get to goal. I am BELIEVING that this will happen in the coming year.














Current Status:
ERIECANALGAL Had a delightful day celebrating 6 kids birthdays all at once! Whew! So much fun.

My Goals:
My goals for 2014 are:

1.Continue to start out each day with a 15 minute prayer time with God, using my "Jesus Calling" Book.
2. Meet my goal of 6,200 steps on my SPAT
3. Use the Nutrition Tracker
4. Go to bed by 1:30AM at the latest or earlier and get up at 8:30 at the latest.
5. Track food on regular days, no tracking on holidays but eating only when hungry.
6. Blog at least once a week.
7. Encourage team mates. Help others out when needed.

Some of these are the same goals I had for 2013..some accomplished and some not. This year I BELIEVE I will accomplish them.

My Program:
Every day I will:
1. Log in to SparkPeople
2. Use the nutrition tracker.
3. Walk 6,000 steps a day.
4. Not get discouraged if I slip up on some things.

Personal Information:
I live in from Sauquoit New York in a 210 year old house on 4 acres of land. My husband, John, passed away on Dec. 7, 2009. I have 8 grown children and 21 grandchildren.
I love to read, write, and draw. I am Polish and love to dance and listen to Polkas.

Other Information:
I am the Author of the Erie Canal Cousins Series, and Town of Paris Twins, historical fiction for children set in NY in 1840 and 1857.

So after reading a few of your blogs I decided to read your page. I find we have some similarities to our lives, but my friend I don't think I could stay up regularly till 1:30 nor sleep in till 8:30.
We are both widows, we both have larger families-if you'll count 5 children as large (I am the eldest of 10), I must do my prayers in the morning-minimum of 15 minutes-I find if I don't my day goes awry, I love stuffed cabbage-something I learned from my Hungarian, Bohemian, Italian husband. I grew up listening to polka's and Irish music every Sunday morning after Mass-Daddy controlled our selection and we all danced around the house.
I have several rosaries but I don't collect them, my most unusual is the one my convert DIL made for me.
Now eat wisely, move, enjoy life, family and nature.
