ERIECANALGAL is a SparkPeople Motivator!
2016 did not turn out to be a good year for losing weight. In fact my weight went up! SO, I am going to double and triple my efforts to lose those nasty 10 to 15 lbs. I am thinking of joining Weight Watchers because you can eat some of everything. No restrictions. Like Oprah says, "I love bread."
The good thing is I am in a walking routine of 7,300 steps a day using my Spark Activity Tracker.
I WILL DO IT!!!
I started SparkPeople seriously in December of 2008 weighing the highest I ever weighed. I joined a few teams and set goals. I tracked my food faithfully each day, and the lbs. started coming off. I even overdid the eating a few times but still lost weight. I WAS SO EXCITED! I could not believe this was happening. I had a zillion diet books home, but they were too restricting and difficult to follow. In a few months I had lost 16 lbs. eating REGULAR food. I also made some wonderful friends on the teams I joined. My friends gave me motivation, enthusiasm, and pushed me on when I was stuck. I had not started exercising yet. But my team was not going to let me get away with that. One of the leaders kept trying to get me to walk. I resisted or only did it halfheartedly. Then I found the Leslie Sansone DVDs Walk Away The Pounds and I was hooked. I was down 20 lbs. My clothes looked great on me, I was able to get off of one of my blood pressure medications, and I had 8 lbs to go to goal!
Then I somehow lost my motivation and a few lbs. slowly crept back on. Then I purchased the SPAT and find myself walking 6,000 just about every day! I am thrilled because this has now become a habit. I still have 11 lbs. to lose to get to goal. I am BELIEVING that this will happen in the coming year.
My goals for 2016 are:
1.Continue to start out each day with a 15 minute prayer time with God, using my "Jesus Calling" Book.
2. Meet my goal of 7,300 steps a day on my SPAT
3. Eat less processed food.
4. Go to bed by 1:30AM at the latest or earlier and get up at 8:30 at the latest.
5. Weigh myself everyday.
6. Try to start some strength training.
7. Encourage team mates. Help others out when needed.
Some of these are the same goals I had for 2016...some accomplished and some not. This year I Hope I will accomplish them and reach my goal weight.
Every day I will:
1. Log in to SparkPeople
2. Use the nutrition tracker.
3. Walk 7,300 steps a day.
4. Not get discouraged if I slip up on some things.

Hi I saw you left a comment on a blog about accepting change.
I don't like the change either.
I had though the People Follow would be where I put my daily check in comment. I did that but it should up on New Posts. Later I checked friends feed and it had photo but no message.
I looked for Friends Feed. It's on the right side of page , listed in section where others pages can be found. I went to page , clicked on my feed and left my message and usually a photo.
Its so complicated. It seems it's designed to keep us on the site longer.
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not, but muddling along .
Hope you find friends feed.

My team for the Winter Season was The Rookies, because, well, we were all rookies - new to the 5% Challenge. Most of the team is sticking together, and we have renamed ourselves The Rowdy Rebels - lol. I encourage you to sign up for the Rookie Team - there will be a new one. That way you'll learn all of the ins and outs of the 5% Challenge, and after being a Rookie for one challenge, you have the option of staying with that team, or moving on to another if there is an opening. It's fun!!

I am enjoying the 5% Challenge. My team is very supportive, the focus is goal oriented. I've lost a bit of weight, which is good. I haven't been able to exercise as much as I would like to because of my neck issue, but the team understands that. I'm going to do the Spring Challenge too. I like the 5% better than the BLC.
