Losing Weight 2016...a Mental Challenge

My goal for 2016 is to view losing weight as a mental challenge by trying to train my will and motivation to naturally eat healthier and less. Also to find some new recipes and cook more instead of just throwing something together to eat.

The good thing is that I have made a habit of walking 7,100 steps a day using my Spark Activity Tracker. This year, healthy eating is my biggest focus.

I WILL DO IT!!!

I started SparkPeople seriously in December of 2008 weighing the highest I ever weighed. I joined a few teams and set goals. I tracked my food faithfully each day, and the lbs. started coming off. I even overdid the eating a few times but still lost weight. I WAS SO EXCITED! I could not believe this was happening. I had a zillion diet books home, but they were too restricting and difficult to follow. In a few months I had lost 16 lbs. eating REGULAR food. I also made some wonderful friends on the teams I joined. My friends gave me motivation, enthusiasm, and pushed me on when I was stuck. I had not started exercising yet. But my team was not going to let me get away with that. One of the leaders kept trying to get me to walk. I resisted or only did it halfheartedly. Then I found the Leslie Sansone DVDs Walk Away The Pounds and I was hooked. I was down 20 lbs. My clothes looked great on me, I was able to get off of one of my blood pressure medications, and I had 8 lbs to go to goal!

Then I somehow lost my motivation and a few lbs. slowly crept back on. Then I purchased the SPAT and find myself walking 6,000 just about every day! I am thrilled because this has now become a habit. I still have 11 lbs. to lose to get to goal. I am BELIEVING that this will happen in the coming year.

Hi Dottee! My breakfast shake is 4 ounces of Trop50 orange juice, 8 ounces cold water, 1 teaspoon of Metamucil, 1 dash of Miralax, and 1 scoop of MyoFusion ProBiotic Elite Protein Powder - vanilla. I mix it all up in a shaker bottle, and it tastes like a creamsicle! The MyoFusion protein powder used to be carried by GNC. Last time I ordered it through Amazon. It mixes completely - no clumps or gumminess. If you're willing to use your blender in the morning, you can easily make any kind of protein shake, including green smoothies. Mine is low in calories though, high in protein (20 g), and is filling.

The only food I really don't like is calves liver. I like just about anything else. I eat REAL food. An easy meal, and one that is delicious too, is SP Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken. REALLY good!! I made old fashioned beans from scratch yesterday. I like soups and stews, and SP has a lot of good recipes. I like meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. I like spaghetti squash, with a good, homemade beef ragu sauce over it, with REAL Parmesan cheese. I like chicken, and can usually get 4 meals from 1 roasted chicken. I don't mind left overs! Spend a little bit of time looking through the SP Recipe data base, and pick 2 or 3 recipes to get you started. Very happy to help - anytime - and this is a good conversation to be having!!
