The Fabulous and Frustrating 40s

In July 2008, I joined sparkpeople because I had hit my highest weight ever. Daily exercise is part of my life now, but I still have a lot of work to do on the eating side. The 40s are awesome in so many ways, but the big downside is that the weight is harder and harder to take off. I'm happy that I've gotten a lot healthier, but I still have a lot of work to do!

My Program:
35-45 min/day, 6 days/week of exercise: 3 days/week of running, 1 day yoga, 1 day weights, 1 day "misc." (yardwork, Wii Fit, etc.).

People are so torn about walking! You would think it would be simple. It is MOVEMENT! Ugh. I agree with you, walking is a great, great thing. Mark Sisson from MarksDailyApple.com is a big proponent of long, slow movement (walking, hiking, etc) and I pretty much trust whatever he says (he does his research). Besides, studies show that even if you work out every day, it doesn't reverse the negative effects of sitting all day. So, GO YOU!

Hey! I'm just now commenting from an old post you put on my page. I'll have to ask my doctor if he might prescribe the Enbrel or Humira for my joint pain.

I quit taking Glucosamine just last night. I couldn't tell it was making any difference.

It seems like my back and knee exercises I've been doing lately have helped some though.

I started to stress about the lack of training a few weeks ago until school got insane and then I decided it wasn't worth the extra worry.

I actually planned on not doing any longer races anymore but a friend asked me to do a 15K with her in April. I said "oh there's a 5K that day, maybe I'll do that" and she looked heartbroken. So, 15K it is! I know what it is like to want a friend to run a race with you. I also figured since it is with a friend, it would be more motivating and more fun. I also would be held accountable by her!

Other than that, I have a 7K just a week after the 15K. It is my favorite race and I get 50% off registration because I did the Atlantic City 10K. That race will be purely for the fun of it!

Other than that, it is about 5Ks for a while. Oh and I haven't even mentioned that I'm starting Body Beast on December 1st ;)

I just know I will have the time come December because all the stuff that is keeping me busy now will be pretty much over by then!! I also have another friend doing that with me so more accountability! And I love weight lifting so that's a bonus :)

So am I really crazy now?! :)

Since you put off the carving last night ...does that mean you will do it tonight? (Though your other half is sick ... so maybe he needs some taking care of instead.) I hope Kate wasn't too disappointed last night.
