    I have also gotten a lot of help using the exercises in Feeling Good and books by Albert Ellis and Aaron T. Beck.

    Many people swear by Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT-much info free on the web).

    I"ll say for myself for a long time nothing was as easy and convenient as food, but it became more painful to overeat than to accept some of the discomfort of my feelings. However, the references above also helped me avoid some negative feelings or divert myself from them. But I had to work at it very purposefully at first. emoticon
