Fat Boy Losing Weight

Stepped on the scale January 23, 2009 and saw "273." (I'm 5' 9") It had been a long time since I stepped on a scale (probably 2 years) and, prior to this, the last time I weighed it was 258. It seems like I have gained about 3 pounds a year for the past 30 years ... although, it probably started slower and accelerated. I have to get to 169 pounds to be in the "healthy" BMI range (25.)

In any event, it's time to bring this thing to a screeching halt and get a grip ... and, uh, ...

I've been cheating on the calorie counts. I'd have to guess I've been fudging them 300 a day or more. I didn't want to admit milk calories. I shall try to do better.

2016 Weight Loss - CPD - Start weight ???

For those wanting to know what I did, here it is.

I figured out how many calories I needed to maintain my weight and then subtracted 1,000 from that to get my "low calorie range." I figured if I ate between 500 and 1,000 calories less than my "maintenance weight" I could lose a pound or two a week.

Then I used the nutrition tracker -- EVERY DAY (and I entered my food honestly) and VOILA, weight loss. I usually enter it a day or two in advance so I can clearly see my plan. I don't even use Spark's meal planner. I eat what I want but I enter it in the tracker. (Well, not "what I want" ... I've given up milk, pizza, a lot of beer etc ... I still eat/drink them ... just not NEARLY as much.) Yes, I've gone over my calorie range many, MANY times, but I just log it all and move on.

It took me a while to get my tracker all set up with my favorites etc ... and I had to learn which foods contained a lot of calories so I could plan accordingly, but since then it's been snap to use the tracker.

Up until now, I haven't even done any formal "exercise" (although I need to start ... at least some strength training soon.)

I don't really have a "goal date," I'm just eating in my calorie range and waiting. By the way, I get PLENTY to eat ... I'm just not eating everything in sight anymore. Anyway. There it is, good luck to you.

I wanted to check in. I am okay. Long story.

I'm about to go run...after my phone charges and I drink some water. I have a half marathon in March, you know.

I can see you're still working towards your goal and I applaud you! I feel better today than I have in six months,
emotionally. I pray that sticks through the Spring because I don't want to have to buy bigger summer clothes.

Come on EK, I went up to 202lb (again) and I am back down again, if me an office dwelling sloth can do it, I'm sure you with your access to warm walking can too.

Get back on here EK, do it for health reasons if nothing else.

Missed a couple days week before last because of the ice so we repeated week 4 again this past week. Did better this week than I expected, a BIG jump next week to 8 min at a time mon tues and 20 min with no break on Friday, whew...I almost punked out on Friday morning and slept in but couldn't so glad I didn't because it would have made it so much harder come Monday.
