Starting again...

I started back 26 Nov 2012 on a low carb diet weighing 224.2 lbs. I'm trying to make a really good effort this time around. The highest weight that I reached was 241 lbs - one good thing is that I didn't let my weight get that high again before I started on this diet. I started dieting and SparkPeople in 2008 at 233.8 lbs.

1/2/11: Like the song "Twelve Days of Christmas", I got a "gift" every day - averaging a pound gain each day for twelve days. I actually gained 14 lbs from my low of 198 in the span of one month and am now 212 lbs. I started back on my diet January 1 and have been good through 1.5 days so far...

Happy New Year!

1/1/11: I've been off my low carb diet (or ANY diet for that matter) for about a month, and have been really crazy food-wise for the past two weeks.

I've gained a significant amount of weight back, but I have started back on my low carb diet to get back to where I was (and then some).

I've updated my ticker to reflect my new weight (212 lbs) with the hope that it won't take me too long to get back to where I was. I exercised on my stationary bike today for 65 minutes and burned 400 calories and did a little walking around town today. I was very good on my low carb eating today.

10/31/10: Still weigh 198.8. Still working out and limiting my carb intake.

My band was the first up on Halloween night for a Battle of the Bands contest - and we had a blast. I was supposed to be a "Skull" for halloween, but when the drummer's wife looked at me she said she needed to give me advice about the make-up: "Less is more." and left it at that. My lead guitar said that I looked more like a scary panda than a skull. Oh well...everyone wanted a picture with the Skull though...

10/10/10: Lost 1.6 1bs since my last update - I am now in "Onederland" at 198.8. Woo Hoo!

09/26/10: Haven't broken the 200 lb mark when I weighed in this morning, but darn close at 200.4 lbs. I finally clocked in over 2000 miles on my bike - mostly commuting to work each day. Working out with weights three days a week.

08/28/10: Weighed in at 201.4 - lost 3 lbs since last month. Still limiting my carbs and exercising. Came back from a two-week business trip and found that I had not gained - and I was able to do my weight lifting and the elliptical trainer during that time. Hopefully I'll get to break the 200 lb mark soon and get into "onederland".

07/25/10: I'm currently at 204.4 - lost 1.2 lbs from last check-in in June. Still riding my bike - I now have 1840 miles logged in - mostly riding my bike back and forth to work. Started weight lifting - that'll put some muscle weight back on, but that's no problem. I've actually went from my largest pants size of 44 to 38 - I'm able to wear old clothes that I haven't fit in a LONG time!

06/12/10 - Here's my multi-month check-in: Lost 8.4 lbs since my last check-in in February. Still doing the Atkins' Diet (I've been on it since last September) and I'm actually pretty happy on it. Sure...I can't eat some stuff that I used to, but I really CAN live without stuff that I used to eat regularly - especially stuff that is made mostly of sugars or carbohydrates: candy, cakes, rice, etc. I'm at my lowest weight in at least 5 years.

02/26/10 - Still plodding along. Even though I haven't been posting, I'm still on program - slowly (very slowly) but surely weight coming off. I've been doing low carb since September and am trying to exercise every day. I've been riding my bike on days that I can (and doing either a stationary bicycle or elliptical trainer when I can't due to weather). I now have over 1600 miles on my bike. I haven't been keeping up with logging my exercise in or my food, but I'm still on plan.

08/05/09 - Have a challenge right off the bat - I will be going to travel starting not this coming Friday, but next Friday and will be working from 5:30 PM to 6:30 AM for 14 days straight (including the weekends of course). I hope I don't lose momentum during that time. Cross your fingers for me!

BTW, I still commute to work by bike (except when it's raining or I need a break) - I've ridden over 1300 miles since I started about a year ago.

My Goals:
- My first goal is to get under 200 lbs. (COMPLETE: 22 Mar 13)

My Program:
- I had been been taking the bus to work (walking 0.5 miles to the bus stop) and then walking home after work (6 miles), but have now started to commute to work on my bike each day (12 mile round trip).
- I also just started taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
- I follow a low-carb diet.

Personal Information:
I had been living in Korea since Nov 2001 and moved to Hawaii in Nov 2011.

Other Information:
As a hobby in Korea, I used to play bass in a rock n' roll band and performed every so often. Right now, in Hawaii, I bought a ukulele and am trying to self-teach myself using YouTube.

thanks for the exercise clothes goodie. congrats on learning to surf. i just don't get how on stays on a board in the water.......amazing!
