Half the Man
Despite a nagging injury, untold piles of work, and the typical garden-variety assortment of 30-something fatherhood stressors, I plan to lose 50 pounds in a safe, manageable and sustainable way over time, and with your help. Despite a nagging injury, untold piles of work, and the typical garden-variety assortment of 30-something fatherhood stressors, I plan to lose 50 pounds in a safe, manageable and sustainable way over time, and with your help. As a former Division 1 scholarship athlete, I find my current condition (slightly obese, if there is such a thing) to be entirely unacceptable and totally incongruent with the lifestyle I once enjoyed and wish to pursue again, long-term. I have tried a few over-the-counter remedies in a vain effort to do something about this, but have since learned that this is about lifestyle, not quick fixes. Hence, here I am on the Spark People site, as this appears to be healthy and filled with folks with suggestions and similar goals. As for the "half the man" motto, I plan to do half of a lot of things, namely eating, in order to accomplish my sub-200 goal. For instance, I have found that drinking half the coffee leads me to drink twice the water, and hence, consume roughly half the food, as I am more sated when properly hydrated. There are many other halfs, but you get the idea. I hope to learn from you. Let's do this! -Frank
