Fifi: fit & fabulous in the fifties!

Small bites for the biggest of tasks.
Haere mai, welcome to my page, Sparkers!

I started off slow on Sparkpeople, reading articles and exploring. going for the daily bonus spin, & taking care of the basics, such as sleep. Found my Spark and released the majority of my excess fat in 2013. Still a way to go, but it's in sight. Plan to be at goal in mid 2014, and when I get there, I'm sticking around!

I'm not losing the unwanted fat, I am getting rid of it and I have an eating and exercise programme that I can follow happily into maintenance.

While I still have more weight to release I am starting to focus on maintenance and have joined the maintenance team so I can warm up to what I see as the biggest challenge.

Feel free to drop by my page or blogs any time!

My Goals:
Increase fitness, flexibility & energy. Gain muscle, lose fat. In 2014 my focus is on releasing fat and more weight based exercise.
Doing pretty well so far, just 10 kg to goal, which should be around mid year.

My Program:
Log in every day & go for the bonus spin.
7-9 hours exercise weekly, mostly Zumba & water exercise. Loving my FitBit Flex & aiming for 10,000 'steps' (most of this is water exercise) injury free.
Rocking the Cura Romana to reset my weight and eating patterns in 2014.

Personal Information:
I'm a Kiwi chick, living with my DH in New Zealand. We have cats & chickens. I work part time and I love to garden.

Other Information:
I access Sparkpeople on my old iPad. It's a bit clunky. To do more than the basics, I need to get to another computer, so I don't always reply to messages straight away. Uh, and when I type, the text is tiny, so don't be surprised at some bizarre punctuation & comments, blame predictive text, LOL!

Thanks for stopping by my page to read my blog and for your comments. I've thought all along that finding a doctor that was willing to really listen to me would be the key but wasn't able to find one in the little town we lived in before moving. I never really thought about low fat equaling high sugar but I think you're probably right. Today is day 1 of change (again). I've had a lot of "day 1's" but hopefully this will be the start of a more successful journey.

emoticon It will! I don't think I'll write my blog tonight because I am really tired (4 hours and a half walk, that's more than what I have been used to these last few months, it is good for me!). Just about to have dinner, then I think I'll collapse into bed, I am looking forward to a good night sleep!
Thank you so much for all your encouragements, they mean a lot to me! I hope your week is going well and that you have some nice plans for the Easter weekend. emoticon

I am starting to feel brave enough to try some gentle, slow exercise in the pool at the Y. We no longer have the hot tub at the Y, but we do have a sauna which I have used on occasion. I can try using that again, too. Maybe I'll take the baths in the morning before work and try the sauna in the evening at the Y.
