Fairy Tale of a Fat Girl

Once upon a time there was a fat girl who became determined to get her health back on track......

Hi, I'm Diane! I am working on making me the healthiest me I can be! I've really mastered making exercise a priority in my life. I could be a little better about going on the weekends or days off of work, but I've come a long, long way.

What I'm really trying to do is support all this awesome activity with the right foods and calories! That's my biggest struggle, but I ...

That's my biggest struggle, but I learn a little more everyday, and have a lot of great support on here. I couldn't ask for better SparkFriends than the ones I've found so far! Once I get this piece of the puzzle figured out, there will be no stopping me!

Fitness Goals:
Complete a 5K under 45 minutes

Those are my first few, I'll add more, and maybe some rewards once i think of them!

My Program:
I hit my gym Monday-Friday before work. Not really sure how this night owl turned into a morning exerciser, but it seems to be working, so I'm sticking with it!

I like to do races, usually just 5k's, but I'm completing my second 10k on March 29th, AND I've signed up for the Richmond half marathon in November- EEK! Races keep me motivated to keep training hard.

I still struggle with eating, but tracking my food and trying my best to stick to my SP ranges. I'm just trying to trust the process, even when I don't see any changes. I know if I'm patient it will continue to pay off.

Personal Information:
Lakeside, VA

I'm married, no kids yet. I do have two nieces and two nephews. And we have a fur baby- a ginger tomcat named Jean-Luc. I work full time for a mortgage company and am going to school for my second Bachelor's. Fortunately it's just one 6-week class at a time.

I love to read, I write a bit (although I haven't in a long time) and also love music. I dabble a little in sewing/crocheting/embroidary. I enjoy medieval history.

I'm totally a Doctor Who junkie, and an Anglophile in general. BBC America can be a problem in my life. ;)

I adore Firefly as well.

Haven't played in a while, but I enjoy a good game of D&D, as well. It's actually how I met my husband! :D

Other Information:
One decision at a time.
This is the motto of my life.

"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar" is my mantra.

I saw your comment on ERNOINACTION's page, and thought I'd chime in with my two cent's worth.

I sometimes buy the family pack of skinless, boneless chicken breasts when they are on sale and either bake them in the oven or put them in the crockpot (usually with no seasoning at all, sometimes with salsa in the crockpot). When they are done, they can be cut up how you want for salads or other things. You can portion them out in serving sizes and freeze them. Voila', a couple of week's worth of toppings and easy to grab. Also, I do this with beef roasts in the crockpot. One hot meal, the rest for salads and sandwiches.

Eggs are also a good protein source. Also, you can use plain non or low fat yogurt as a base for a salad dressing with your favorite seasonings. Low fat and protein, what a combo!

Here's to continuing your good work on living a healthy lifestyle!

Thanks for the blog comment! I'm excited for my first trip to DC this weekend but I know it will be hot. I'm not the best hot weather person but I'll make it!

Are you on Pinterest? There are about a million salad ideas on there. You might find something you like. Have you thought about cooking a turkey breast on the weekend and then having it for salads and what not during the week? I usually put mine in the crock pot. Super easy!

Have a good weekend!

I want you to have big dreams, big goals. I want you to strive to achieve them. But I don't want to see you beating yourself up every time you make a mistake.

Thank you very much for the support! Mr Consistency, I like that. After decades of failure trying to lose huge amounts each week only to fail, get depressed and gain I have found something that is slow but works! Have a great end to the week and weekend!
