One day I woke up and I was larger than my husband. I found myself hardly getting up from the floor by myself. Although I have always been heavy, I never was heavier than my 6’4” husband. I used to be so strong. What happened to me? This was the day I said, “enough’s enough”.


I started this journey like most everyone, just wanting to lose some weight. I NOW believe that the fat was just a symptom of the real issues. I work on this daily. I’m learning to love and respect myself. I’m learning that it’s okay to take care of you first, it’s far from self-centered. When you make this adjustment you will see what I mean. Until then, just keep repeating it.


Change will not occur without first stepping out of your comfort zone! In this process, I’m also learning that in order to make yourself great and make all your dreams come true, you have to step out of your comfort zone. The more you do it, the easier it becomes, and the happier you will be. I think it feeds our souls more completely. I liken myself to a cocoon. I'm finally coming out and seeing the world in full color. It's uncomfortable and "painful" but good - oh so good!

My next stepping out of the comfort zone goals includes becoming a certified personal trainer (I take the test in a few weeks). I have also set a goal to compete in my first figure competition, September 12, 2009.

One of my biggest struggles in this journey has been to accept that the scale doesn't always tell us what's really going on. On this day, March 13, 2009, I weigh 174lbs and I’m in a size 8! The last time I weighed 174lbs I was in a 14! The scale is has its place, but shouldn’t be your only feedback.

ON THIS day, June 22, 2011, I'm recovering from adrenal exhaustion and hypothyroidism due to over training and under eating. I have gained almost 50 lbs of the 108 that I lost!!

It took me a long time to not be ashamed or feel like a failure and embarrassed by this, and truthfully I'm still working on it. Although the fact is I'm wiser and will be stronger and healthier because of it. It's been my blessing in disguise.

My goal is to follow the path to TRUE health! It's also my goal to help others through this and mostly avoid it.

I don't look at life as a "before" and "after" anymore; it's a continuous journey and we are always evolving.

My Goals:
GOAL #1: To fully recovery from adrenal exhaustion and heal my thyroid.

GOAL #2: To trust myself and help others.

My Program:
I follow a lower carb life-style with few grains. I eat adequate fat after being starved of them for so long.

I'm building up to more of what I love by starting with only ST 2x a week for about 45 minutes.

Still working on making yoga a consistent part of my routine - so needed!

Personal Information:
NASM Personal Trainer with 4 years experience in weight loss, and injury prevention. I'm adding metabolic damage as my expertise when I completely heal. For now I know the "What not to do's".

Thanks! I am making progress...it's always slower than I'd like...I think that's so with everybody. I have learnded that change routine (every 3 weeks or so....including that one!) But you gave me a new spin....all four cycles. Thanks. Hey....how many hours of physical activity per day/week did it take you to 1) lose the weight, 2) maintain 3) get to "show" status 4) Maintain show physique?

Sounds like that would be easy to do....overtrain....once one got "INTO" it. Now I have homework....have to find out what ad failure and other is and how to avoid it! Just eat enough, but not over, eh?
