Journey to thin- the Poundage Plan

My weight has been a lifelong battle: Diet/lose/gain. Diet/lose/gain. At 55, it was high time I put that cycle behind me. My arthritis was so bad in my knees, I had a hard time going up and down stairs. This had to STOP!

My youngest birth kid, Meg, got a free month membership at the local "Y" and convinced me to join with her. OK, no dieting, but I could use the exercise for my poor knee.

My youngest birth kid, Meg, got a free month membership at the local "Y" and convinced me to join with her. OK, no dieting, but I could use the exercise for my poor knee.

Imagine my surprise to find that I could play racquetball and with a little modification, take classes. I am using the cardio room every day and the weight room every other day.

The bonus? My diet evolved into a healthier diet! I no longer want junk. After only 1 week and a loss of about 5-6 pounds (not focusing on the scale!) my pain decreased.

After less than 10 months, I hit my 'goal' of being healthier, fitter and weighing 116# less than when I started. At just under 1 year, I hit my final adjusted goal with a weight loss of 135# on July 23,1957.

I now embark on a journey of a new me; a journey that I have never before taken. A journey of maintenance. I am confident that the same tools that I used to lose this weight will help me learn to maintain that weightloss.

I love love LOVE Halloween, but I think part of that is tht I get so darned excited about the fact that Christmas is coming!!! I start singing Christmas songs and playing Christmas music non-stop the day after Thanksgiving. Yep, I'm annoying! emoticon

Thanks for stopping by to read and comment on my blog. I'd love to see you again next time you're in my neck of the woods. I'm going to start walking on the canal road again next week if you want to come join me again sometime. I had another Spark friend invite me to join her (virtually) for a 5K challenge on Monday, I agreed and will post the results on the team page I'm on with her after I'm finished. I thought that would be a good start to my new routine. I think I'll have to walk both directions on the canal road to get in 3 miles, I hope the little dog that follows me is locked up. I'm thinking of taking a bottle of something with me to spray at him to discourage him from following me if he is there. I don't want to hurt him, only discourage him, any suggestions?
