Fresh start

after being away from SP for over two years, I found myself unhealthy, out of shape and feeling badly. My blood pressure got high even though I am already on medication and my doctor increased the dosage. This was all I needed to make me realize that I have to improve my health and never let myself go again. Since returning I am exercising regularly, logging in what I eat every day and staying within my calorie range. I am already feeling much better and losing weight. I am 67, have two ...
after being away from SP for over two years, I found myself unhealthy, out of shape and feeling badly. I am 67, have two cats, one 18 yrs. old and the other 2 yrs. old. My husband is slowly eating better as well but he cannot exercise until he has knee surgery coming up sometime this fall we hope. We enjoy travelling and did a lot of long road trips this past three years.

My Goals:
My goal is to improve my health by excersing and improving on my nutrican. The spark program is perfect for me because of all the advice and encouragement that is available/

My Program:
I am learning how to navigate through all the information available to me through Sparkpeople. I am slowing getting into better eating habits or learning from my mistakes. When I do a no no I don't let it get me down but just keep my focus on why I need to eat better.

Personal Information:
My name is Marilyn. I Ontario, Canada. My husband and I are both enjoying retirement. We have two cats that are eighteen and three. When the young one came into our home there was a war between the two females but now the four of us are getting along well.

Other Information:
I enjoy gardening, working out with Wii Fit. My favourite Wii Game is Bowling because that's the only one that I'm good at but I have a lot of fun laughing at myself when I attempt the other games. I have enjoyed travelling to Western Canada and USA and to Central America often.

Hooray, Hooray! Yippee, skippy! Let the new week begin. Let us have a positive, winning attitude to start our week off on a good note. Remember a good attitude is good, for the body, mind and soul. A good attitude is a step in the right direction towards success. emoticon emoticon emoticon

A note to myself. Thought I would share! take your vitamins, eat your fruits and veggies, drink lots of water, exercise and get plenty of rest. These things will help keep you healthy during these cold winter months. emoticon emoticon

"We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched.
Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential. "
~Ellen Goodman

“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation.
Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
-John C. Maxwell

"The common conception is that motivation leads to action, but the reverse is true -- action precedes motivation. You have to prime the pump and get the juice flowing, which motivates you to work on your goals. Getting momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the first step is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day."
- Robert J. McKain

The Healthy Holidays Challenge team is still going strong, and we still have time to make some progress before New Years Day! If you're not feeling motivated to workout and eat right today....do it anyway! Be your own hero and take charge. You will likely feel motivated after you get started. I know I don't have to remind you that you're worth the effort, right?
Hugs,
Pixie
